Apologies if this is not the correct place to ask this but I'd imagine every here is fit and active and has some experience of injuries so I was wondering could someone help me find a solution to mine.

I go to the gym maybe twice a week, nothing too mad but I also play five a side three times a week. In the last 6-9 months I've found that a lot of time when I start to play five a side that my legs are in absolutely agony. It just feels like there are two massive weights strapped to my calves. It got particularly bad last night and I was actually limping around the pitch.

I had given the gym a miss this week to see was that the problem but clearly it wasn't. Would anyone have any idea what it might be and, if so, is there anything I can do to help alleviate the problem.

Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

I'm guessing you are playing on astro-turf/grass with runners/boots and not on concrete without proper runners. If you are running around on concrete with the wrong types of shoes this could be the issue.

Otherwise, check with a medical professional. If you're experiencing pain when just starting it cannot be good.
