    Yes this has been posted in social network forums but no point in finding out about it after the fact.

    Twitter has been hacked and anyone logging onto the main twitter page is opening the proverbial can of worms. Access through 3rd party apps is ok at the moment but don't log directly onto twitter.

    From BBC

    A flaw in the website of micro-blogging service Twitter is being used to pump out pop-up messages and links to porn sites.
    Users only have to move their mouse over the link - not click it - to open it in the browser.
    Thousands of Twitter accounts have so far posted messages exploiting the flaw including Sarah Brown, the wife of former Prime Minister Gordon Brown.
    The malicious links look like a random URL and contain the code "onmouseover".
    This command - written in a programming language called Javascript - automatically directs users to another website, some of which contain pornography.
    "There is no legitimate reason to tweet Javascript," Graham Cluley, a researcher at security firm Sophos, told BBC News.
    He said that it looked like the initial vulnerability was exploited as a prank by users, but was now being spread by a worm, a self-replicating and malicious piece of code.
    "Simply being logged into Twitter and viewing these pages could mean that your own Twitter account could be hacked," said Mr Cluley.
    Until the flaw is fixed, users should use a third-party Twitter client - such as TweetDeck - rather than the Twitter.com website, he advised.
    "Don't use the website," he said.
    It is not the first time the service has suffered an attack.
    In April 2009, another worm spread links to a rival site, again showing unwanted messages on infected user accounts.
    Mr Cluley said that Twitter needs "much tighter control" over what users can contain in a tweet to prevent similar problems in the future.
    Twitter was not immediately available for comment.

    From reading up on it unprotected pcs could be hacked completely by the exploit. Can't understand why they haven't shut the site down completely.

    Javascript injection? How could they not have considered that? :D

    That's what you get for being to embed raw links so easily in Twitter.

    Give it a go yourself kids. Go to here and paste this into the box on the left and then click the 'Edit and Click Me' button and hover over the link:
    <html>
    <body>

    <h1><a href="#" onmouseover='window.location = "http://www.google.com/"'>Hover Over Me</a></h1>

    </body>
    </html>

    Note - I'm only going to send you to Google, so any scat-and-donkey-loving fiends look elsewhere.

    Twitter is a bit pointless, but i hate all this fake hate for Social Networks!

    You all just pretend to hate the Social Networks because it might make you seem cool! But i guarentee you all have facebook accounts.

    And those of you who don't only don't so you can tell people you don't have one and so you can think you seem cool!

    The fact that you are all on Boards posting on After Hours means you like to chat on the internet. Pretending to be "cool" to strangers is ridiculous!

    You don't need to sign up to Tweekdeck, just skip the sign-in page and select not to be bugged about it again.

    Ah now, it's not like they didn't consider XSS attacks at all, otherwise this flaw would have been discovered a long time ago (if was the case of simply using standard HTML).

    It appears it was to do with the @ modifier, used to specify a user in tweets.

    FANS of Joe Duffy and Jedward got more than they bargained for after an unexpected hacker attack on Twitter.
    The X Factor twins, who have more than 80,000 followers on the site, were the victims of a perverted hacker.
    The boys' hugely popular site was hacked yesterday with fans being inadvertently directed to a Japanese pornography site.
    A link appeared on their page as a recent post, and it is believed that several of their fans caught an eyeful of the X-rated images.
    However, due to their borderline obsession to the micro-blogging site, they were able to intervene relatively quickly and delete the link before more people were directed to the page

    I'd say that raised more than a few eyebrows for some! :pac:

    Not surprising really. In search of porn, I googled 'massive cunts' and the Joe Duffy and Jedward websites were top of the list.

    It didn't just happen to them a lot of famous people got hacked as well, there was a warning yesterday telling people not to go to the site they mustn't of saw it, or maybe ignored it.

    My twitter was recently attacked by a girl I know and she posted several sexually explicit tweets on my account posing as me, she admitted it to me, what I want to know is if I can pursue any type of legal action against her?
