Will frequently alludes to how poor he is at some elements of running a gym (promotion etc), clearly you need a more dramatic induction system than an initial fitness/flexibility test. Start making new trainees scarf plates of steak interspersed with terrifying mysterious horse pills until their guts attain a burning sensation and then you'll be real fitness gurus.

It seems it's a constant uphill battle to not only get people to back up their assumptions, but back them up in a way that doesn't involve quoting random websites and articles. Here's a good example of some bad science taken to task.

That must be bad, my iexplorer crashes if I try to open it :)

If I could make up something as impressive sounding as that on the fly, I to would be a renowned fitness guru :(

I've always thought the majority of the stuff he said was bullsh1t niche carving, but it's nice to see a scientific rebuttal.

15-18lb of muscle in 2 months when they start absorbing macros? Ok...

Didn't be claim to have increased benches by like 20% or something stupid in an extremely short period of time by training someones external rotators too?

I find Poliquin training brilliant - its made a big difference to my results etc.

However, I always prefer to get my nutrition advice from someone not selling supplements as generally their advice can be more trusted.

All in all though, most of what I've studied from poliquin is not too much different to most of the other training modes.

I used to work for a gym in Dublin whose trainers are essentially disciples of Charles Poliquin. They do all his courses and accept everything he says as Gospel.

Every one of their sentences essentially begins with "Charles says"....

He made a lot of sense early on...that was mainly because he didn't write any of it. It was also because it wasn't anything special...it was just training 'common sense'.

Good idea...I mean who in their right mind would take nutritional advice from a supplement company or people who sell supplements....the creatine loading phase anyone?

Like I said...all the good stuff is pretty standard...all the completely idiotic and bat sh1t crazy stuff is 100% his own.

What do you make of his BioSignature Modulation Method which he claims has ascertained the relationship between body fat stores and hormonal profiles, and the methodology to improve site specific body composition.?

    For example:

"The skin fold value for the triceps tells you how much testosterone you are currently producing. The pectoral fold, when read in relation to the triceps, gives information as to whether or not you convert your testosterone to estrogen, an undesirable metabolic process known as aromatization."

If only we had a camp fire...we could all sit around and I could tell you all the Chucky P back story I know and you'd understand the contempt with which he holds most of these same guys...I mean by his own standards most of them are rubbish trainers anyway.

Chucky P made the following statement..."I tell people who get certified by me that if they can't get a female to do 12 chin-ups in 12 weeks, then they don't know how to train. That's how you can evaluate a good trainer. If he can get a female to do 12 chins, he's a good trainer. If he doesn't know how to do it, then he doesn't know training. Period."

Chucky P is a fool...I don't know a single person 'in' the industry that rates him as a coach at all.

I'm sure you can guess what I think about it.

I would love to know how many females in Ireland could do 12 strict dead hang pull ups....and remember...according to Chucky P they have to be from dead hang and your sternum has to touch the bar....for that matter I'd be interested to see how many males in this country could do that.

I've heard Will's infamous for this, lures elite athletes in with free cake and creatine, they leave after a week or two of his off topic abuse and then he "claims" them as his own creation forever more :(
