Disappointment for some, but there's no point in rushing the opening if things aren't ready. I suspect there will be walkers on the bridge over the Christmas period if they are allowed.

    So what's the holdup?

The Access road on the Waterford/Kilkenny side does not look near complete,
what was the hold up there? surely they could have painted lines / Lighting up on the road from the roundabout while the concrete issue was being resolved?

Yeah, looks like theres a lot to be done there still alright.

They were probably pulling out all the stops to make the 20th before the recent accident.
Once that happened and activity stopped for a few days, there was no way they were going to be opening on the 20th.

Was the accident not wayyyyy back in July, before even the issue with the concrete discovered?

There was a fatal accident on nearby, but separate roadworks in Gaulstown earlier in the year.

This is the recent accident I was referring to.

Well there’s no worries there after nearly 4 years- they certainly ain’t rushing anything.

While the accident is deeply regrettable and unfortunate, I fail to see what impact it should have had. Yes, deal with the aftermath and reason for it but unless it involved a catastrophic collapse in a structural element or something then it really shouldn’t hold up the opening of the road

Yes I don’t understand that either. I was down there two months ago and it doesn’t look to have moved on a great deal since that time.

Does anyone know what kind of aesthetic lighting has been designed into the bridge?
Black and Amber or Purple and Gold?

Hopefully neither as that would be completely tacky
