    Hi all,

Quick question. How come some analogue phone cabling uses 2 twisted pair and some only 1 twisted pair?

The reason I ask is that I want to use cat5 to extend a DSL and phone connection to a patch panel in the attic.I thought I only needed to use 1 twisted pair but slightly confused.

Also, if it's only 1 twisted pair.. which 2 of the 8 pins on the RJ45 plug do I use?

    Cheers!
