Those low quality rolls just got more expensive folks! I'm guessing it is amongst the most expensive delis of any shop in Ireland, and getting more so when all the other places are reducing their prices.

And this after sending a gloating email to all staff last week about winning some award!

The one across the road from the Ballymun road enterance is way cheaper. There's also a chipper.

As much as I agree, lets be honest - how many students are gonna walk up the Ballymun Road to the chipper/Centra, or even across to the other Spar.

It's terrible that they charge extra, but they're just capitalising on laziness. The SU should do something about it, but truth be told, they won't get any result. They haven't every other time there was a protest/'boycott'.

If there was some competition, it'd be a different story.

Someone should start lobbying for a Subway on Campus.

Didn't we already do that? Or was that just the usual Clubs and Socs chatter...

Centra do the best CFB I've ever tasted.

I'm starting to wonder how prices could get any higher than they already are?

how much is a roll???? Your scaring me with this talk of over priced rolls - I lived of rolls for the past 6 years

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,854 ✭✭✭zuutroy

Meat and 2 fillings was 3.70 today. I think the beloved chicken fillet roll is up to 4.60.

They do have some really well priced "spar" products... for any hot stuff I would take a walk across the road to the other spar.

The Centra at the Ha'Penny bridge in town do a €2 chicken fillet roll that is absolutely savage, just the right chicken:salad ratio

What are the rolls in the restaurant like? Do they still do those even?

I may start making my own rolls (although I said that all last year and never got round to it :P ), food is just so expensive everywhere.

Lunchboxes are the way to go!
I must have saved so much money last year. Also a flask or tea or coffee is very usefull.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,039 ✭✭✭face1990

And there's free tea in the interfaith centre! (maybe some communion wafer too if you ask nicely)

Spar up at Shanowen used to do lunch deals when I lived there, it's only across the road from DCU too

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 56 ✭✭iluvcheese92

oh god don't go to the restaurant for rolls. My mate bought one before and yer one behind the counter wouldn't let him have sweetcorn instead of red onion (since it said red onion on the menu)

Sigh one of the things I was look forward to about college was that I wouldn't have to bring a lunchbox, so much extra weight to my bag

I'll second this, way prefer them to spars, better service I find too

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

The Spar in DCU did the finest rolls I ever got in a Spar. Spicy chicken fillet, mayo and cheese. Delish. They are a bit pricey though. Convenience factor could not be ignored during my Masters though.

NuBar ftw. Hot food is cheaper then Spar.

Even in the city centre food is cheaper. It's ridiculous. You'd think that because it's on campus and so many students use it that they could give us a break.

4:60! They can **** off with that. I would rather go hungry.

Oh well the more they charge the shorter my queue gets. Happy days. :D:D:D

Suggest to the SU that they print a price comparison between the local stores for some of the most popular items e.g. chicken fillet rolls, in Campus. You could also ask DCUfm and The College View to do something similar through their respective media.

If, after doing, that the student body doesn't take their business elsewhere then they have no one to blame but themselves.

I found the price for a roll in Spar in DCU around middlish compared to what i would pay in town and back at home. The rolls however are mank and i wouldn't go near them if you paid me to, find the baps a lot more fresh since they are still in the wrapper when you get there.

Avoid the restaurant deli at all costs, the staff are horrible and the food is sub par.

NuBar is excellent, i feel like im stealing from them anytime i buy food off them their prices are that good for the quality of food your getting.

What prices are we talking about for NuBar?

Really? Back when I was a student (lol I just realised how long ago that is) the food was terrible. Microwaved burgers and soggy chips were the order of the day.

The NuBar has changed hands three times in the past five years.

The current NuBar does great food.

If your living on campus and doing a full shop I usually walk to Omni shopping center, go to tesco there...

As already said Tesco in Omni, but you're right beside Santry Avenue (15 minutes walk) and theres a lidl/aldi (I can never tell the difference) there which has great deals too. God I wish I was moving out.
