Now I could do one of those fancy, super serious match threads along the lines of...

    0,,12306%7E3325032,00.gif0,,12306%7E8912165,00.png vs 0,,12306%7E8880623,00.png0,,12306%7E3324951,00.gif

But I think the following is more appropriate...

You know the rules. Sit back, turn off your mobile phones, and enjoy the show. If you see anybody illegally using filming device in here, please contact the staff. Enjoy :)

This game really needs an alternative 'No holds barred' thread.

Should be renamed the debt ridden derby.

OP is going to be horrendously disappointed. In comparison to years past, this thread is going to be positively tame - whatever the result.

Anyway, the game itself will be something along the lines of March 2008.

    Bit early for this...?

Seem Roy is doing his best to turn Pool into fulham, (only fulham are probably better...!), Man United to win and waynes world to get more centerfold, sorry back page headlines.

I'm looking forward to this already!

The first 20 minutes of the actual game will probably cure me of that though...

I could see some Pool fan on Pool fan crime with somehow Rafa Benitez being brought up.

thankfully i wont be online from friday night to monday morning, as ive a wedding and then im off to the game. this thread is normally one of the best and worst of the year.

i actually hate these games once they kick off, there is more tension sourrounding these than any other and i always sit there barely able to watch the game. Sunday will be no different, United should win it, but these games are always close.

    Hmmm

Liverpool have been dire this season.

Four league games and four games in Europe where they looked pretty poor for the most part.

Defense looks very dodgy so far bar Pepe. Midfield seems to be lacking in heart and invention.

    Front line looks disinterested.

All in all it sounds just like the kind of form Liverpool often have just before getting a result against United.:)

1-1 or maybe even a sneaky Liverpool win by the odd goal.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,169 ✭✭✭JohnnyRyan99

As poor as Liverpool have been, you can usually throw the form book out the window for this game.

Although in sayin that, considering United are at home, this shouldnt be much of a contest. Can see United absolutely controlling the midfield battle. Specially if Woy sticks with the Pucas combination!

Missed the last 20 of the Pool Brum match, did Meireles come on. If so, did he look any bit daycent?

we were a different team, because we had someone in midfield who actually wanted the ball.

i can't see past a utd win, but i'm happy to lean on the optimism provided by the fact that the form book can usually be thrown out the window for this.

my other bit of hope is in the fact that with Joe back, even if Mereiles is still perceived to not be ready to start by Hodgson, Gerrard will be dropped back and Lucas dumped on the bench. so at least we'll have someone who'll want to put their foot on the ball and take some sort of responsibility in there.

Pucas is such an apt name for that combination by the way.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,346 ✭✭✭✭homerjay2005

after last seasons 2 games, any United fan who thinks this will be easy for United, is an idiot.

liverpool had one of their wost seasons in years, yet still rose to play well in both games, winning one and pushing United to the end in the other.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 16,658 ✭✭✭✭Peyton Manning

    Pucas.

Absolutely brilliant. This thread has already been justified.

Looks like a footballer. Looks positive, made plenty of runs forward. But didnt get that many kicks. Compared to Pucas, he's bleedin deadly!

Both sides are looking a bit rudderless at the moment. I fancy United to win though but Pool will be up for it as usual so form means nothing.

    Glazers Out!

    More importantly, who's the ref??

More often than not there's a big/turning point decision in these matches.

Going to be tough. United at home gives us the advantage imo, and I think Liverpool's defense is especially weak. But their attack could cause us trouble. Luckily for us, their central midfield seems as **** as ours so far this season.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,169 ✭✭✭JohnnyRyan99

Surely the best team Rooney could face after all these allegations! Pool fans going to give him an almighty grilling!

Only pity is it's not in Anfield!

    Pucas

    Ha thats brilliant.

Once Merieles came on against Birmingham we were a different team. With Joe Cole back aswell hopefully we will look half decent.

Still despite all that its the most pessimistic ive been in quite some time regards Liverpool picking up anything against United in Old trafford.

Still United are **** anymore aswell so who knows!

Probably the first time in my 30 years as a liverpool fan where i dont really give a sh1t about the result of this 'derby'. I want the lads and the manager to do well etc etc but really my only hope over the next few weeks is the future of the club, RBS turning the screw on the owners and new people to come in and give the club a future.

I think reina will be busy and il take a point.

Last year this thread was opened 5/6 days before the game and locked until it was each teams next fixture. There was so much off topic shoite it had to be. The actual thread during the game was tame iirc.

Yup, 1 point off the PL title. Champions League Quarter Finalists and Carling cup winners. What a shíte team altogether.

I can see liverpool getting their annual big performance and sneaking a win. At the end of the season when they end up potless (again), they can resort to the "at least we beat ye".:(

Or united can finally show the gulf in class and hammer them:D

Doesnt really matter who started it, in a horrible way as a Rangers fan, i know that this is probably a bigger dot on the horizon that what should be a formality for Utd tomorrow.
It pains me to say it, but its true.

Form is irrelevant in this game. It's United vs. Liverpool.
