Christian Music Videos (Christian Response Only)

I thought this may be an interesting thread. Name some music videos either from the past or recently that contained Christian content?

I'll begin with Stop Crying your Heart Out by Oasis at about 3mins into it a woman is pictured looking at the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary on a candle. I'm not sure whether Oasis are Catholic but it was nice to see Mother Mary appear in that Song, She must of liked it, as I find it to be a song of encouragement when in difficult times.

    Would you care to contribute?

To put your mind at ease. No, Oasis are not Catholic. But whatever you take from anything they do, then that is what it means for you. Music is put out there and it is whatever you want it to mean. Once it's out there, it means whatever it means to the people that hear it.

Take from it what you must.

If it has a Catholic message for you then that song has a Catholic message. Once a song is put out there then it means to you whatever it means to you.

I think you need to look further than Oasis for christian content, tbh.

    Seriously?

As you say, you take what you want from whatever you feel appropriate, but ,imo, that song does not have a truely 'christian' content.

P.s. I concur, it is a great song.

Nah, I think I'll leave it to those who may know better.

I was only going by the guidelines you laid out, tbh, "Music is put out there and it is whatever you want it to mean".

I'm no christian, so maybe you know better than I do.

I think alot of Creed's songs are classed as Christian....they were labelled a Christian rock band not sure if they did that themselves or people decided to call them that.

Also you see all over youtube concerning Lifehouse and alot of their songs people arguing that their songs are about God.

But as another poster said people take different meanings from songs.
This one gets alot of people arguing online :D
No matter what though it is a seriously beautifully song.

    Everything
    Find Me Here
    Speak To Me
    I want to feel you
    I need to hear you
    You are the light
    That's leading me
To the place where I find peace again.

You are the strength, that keeps me walking.
You are the hope, that keeps me trusting.
You are the light to my soul.
    You are my purpose...you're everything.

How can I stand here with you and not be moved by you?
Would you tell me how could it be any better than this?

You calm the storms, and you give me rest.
You hold me in your hands, you won't let me fall.
You steal my heart, and you take my breath away.
Would you take me in? Take me deeper now?

How can I stand here with you and not be moved by you?
Would you tell me how could it be any better than this?
And how can I stand here with you and not be moved by you?
Would you tell me how could it be any better than this?

    Cause you're all I want, You're all I need
    You're everything,everything
You're all I want your all I need
    You're everything, everything.
    You're all I want you're all I need.
    You're everything, everything
    You're all I want you're all I need, you're everything, everything.

And How can I stand here with you and not be moved by you?

I was told by another photographer at the gig that Paramore are not Christian Rock per se, but that they have quite a few songs (We are Broken, I think was one I remember) with strong Christian messages in them. Again, that's all second-hand information.

The obvious one would be Creed though, who did it quite successfully, to the extent that their songs were used outside of the idea-poor Christian Rock market. My Sacrifice was used by the WWF for it's pay-per view at the time of released, and used endless amount of times for emotional promos. It's a great song, and while you can argue about their characters, they did a lot for the CR genre.

That said, Cliff Richard is probably the first thing people think of in this genre. His uber-uncool manner is not one many young people want to be associated with, but given he is the Daddy of that market (with more record sales than the Beatles and Elvis) it's hard for anyone in the business to criticize him.

Other than that, I wouldn't know without a-googling more.

Don't know of any Irish artists, mind. Anyone?

The obvious answer would be U2 - at least for some of the members of the band. There are plenty of artists who like U2 would be best described as artists who are Christians, rather than Christian artists. Another example would be the ever excellent Sufjan Stevens. Of course, these people don't often get asked deep theological questions, so it is difficult to know what they mean when they say, "I'm a Christian".

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,001 ✭✭✭ColmDawson

My dad, in his Christian youth, used to be in a prayer group with the U2 guys. Apparently they were pressured to choose between the band and the group...

Also if Oasis were a Catholic band they'd be Christian brothers beating each other up, which would make a change. :pac:

    Prince - The Cross

Donna Summer - I believe in Jesus

Chris De Burgh - A spaceman came travelling

    U2 - Jesus Christ

They (Lifehouse) were worship band for a church in the states for a few years before they released their first album.
The are def a Christian band more than a band that happens to have Christian members.

    Really good call on U2. One of my favourite lyrics of all time are in "One". {grammatical nightmare of a sentence}

    Whoa man, cool your jets.

I think I have an ace up my sleeve, oh yes I do.

    [/thread]

Thank you and goodnight. Springstin rocks! I'm here all week.

Edit: Re-reading the OP I see it is more about the actual video? But since I have a deep seated hatred for music videos and what they have done to the music industry. I'm sticking to my guns. Plus, Nina "fukking" Simone - Sinnerman. C'mon, wins any song posting contest ever devised.

Nah Strobe I think Prinz said it all in one go. Brilliant...''Bear the Cross''
for me Prinz is answering the question at the forefront of all our minds, and that answer is only through our acceptance of Suffering can we truly be happy that suffering is a reality, many of us ask whether or not God or why does he not cure suffering, but look at our crappy attempts of trying to cure it? I feel that Gods hands our tied to our freedom and that only through our turning to him as a whole world and nation can we truly be happy and can sufferring end. Bare in mind thats said with a few tinnys inside of me lol so be leniant lol

Yeah i had a deletion too, i think when the op says "christian content" he/she is referring to "content that paints christianity in a positive light". Odd how this only leaves what the hipsters nowadays call "gay music" which is not in line with the teachings of Christ.....chris tomlin ffs....

If you have a problem with a moderating decision then there is a dispute resolution procedure which begins by PMing the mod concerned.

Discussing moderating decisions inthread is backseat modding, which will earn you infractions or bans. I suggest you try reading the Charter (you know, the sticky at the top of the page that says "Please Read").

And the same polite warning to you about backseat modding. You should also read the Charter, particularly the bit about swearing or facsimiles thereof. Also, using 'gay' as a derogatory term is considered homophobic and therefore unacceptable.

in the bible it says to stone gay people so how is it against the rules to mention gay people in a bad light he is just following the teaching of Christianity-the biggest homophobic group in the world

Yes, it censors things like Christianity. So I'm still lost as to how your replies are making any kind of sense. Nobody is trying to censor you friend, its just your posts dont belong in this thread because they dont contain anything Christian, but rather deginerate Christianity itself. And anything that denginerates Christ is not Christian. Maybe you should go to the china forum, you might be more welcomed there.

Your welcome here though if you wanna talk about Jesus.

Some Christians are homophobic, as are some atheists. Nevertheless homophobia is unacceptable in this forum, and hopefully in the A&A forum too.

The Charter states "Bigotry, crude generalisations and unreasonable antagonism will not be tolerated. This rule encompasses all intolerance towards creeds, beliefs, lifestyles or opinions that differ from one's own."

Homophobia, by definition, is included in that. Unreasonable antagonism towards gays, or crude generalisations about them, are not welcome here. Nor is the use of 'gay' as a peurile term of abuse or derision.

Now, let's keep the thread on topic please.

You know what, I really hate having to do this, but sadly some of our non-Christian friends are determined to take us off-topic, troll, indulge in backseat modding, and then post the crappest 'Christian' music they can find in order to take the mick.

I had hoped polite requests would have prevailed but, given an apparent lack of good manners among posters, this thread is now tagged for Christian responses only. :(

Not sure which of the three threads to posts this in:pac:

Anyways, this is basically "Our Father" in Swahili. I think it's lovely.

    Here's another for relaxation.
(May not be suitable for Irish Catholics :P I joke... I joke)
    Coronation of a Monarch.

    Come O Spirit.
Instrumental version used in Call of Duty of all things. :)

    Ave Maria.
You couldn't NOT post this. :)

This was actually used in Rainbow Six (Elite Counter Terrorism Unit) of all things lol.

And finally a little more rock orientated. :
    A Smile From Heaven's Eyes.

I'm adding this because it was used in part of a excellent Space Shuttle Endeavour tribute video here.
    (Watch it in HD:)
