I've just come off a loading cycle of creatine for 5 days amd today is the end of my second week taking it. I usually take it in the evening. I train 5 days a week 4 days doing a 4 day split programme and one day (usually saturday) going skipping for an hour and working on my abs. I'm 5ft 10" and weigh 13 stone 6 in the morning. my bodyfat is 12% . I've been training steadily and only supplementing my diet with Whey. I have well toned abdominals but yesterday i felt my jeans were tight around my waist and this morning when i was walking one of my kids to school i thought i could feel my stomach jiggle under my shirt. when i got home i investigated and found that it has just swollen overnight, it's fcukin unreal lol. i did some reading about creatine as i have never had a problem with water retention and found that a lot of chinese manufacture creatine is pretty poor and can have water retention as a side effect. i Know that creatine withholds water in the muscle to increase the volume but i didn't expect it to bloat me up like this. has anyone had a similar problem with creatine. and how long after stopping creatine did you body get back to it's normal shape

Try Creatine Ethyl Ester instead. It is more expensive but does not cause the same degree of water retention. Make sure to buy it in tablet form as it stinks something unreal!

i'd love to but i cannot get work at the moment so monohydrate was all i would stretch for, i'll stick with just whey and train hard. just wondering how long the water is retained.

Had water retention myself I stopped taking it and it went not everyone I know who took creatine had water retention but I switched to creatine ethyl esther and have no problems. A few years ago when I was new to supplements and powerlifting I got really cheap creatine out of a place.

I started taking it and for the whole week I was taking it I felt sick, had diarrhea and severe water retention. Gave it up quick I spent ten euro on the creatine :) moral of the story if you get the chance grab some creatine ethyl ester :)
