Serious Mass

Started weight training 6 months ago. I farted around at the beginning using isolation machines but after a month or two I realised the people who worked in the gym were full of crap. So after doing a bit of research on boards.ie, transform's blog and a few other places I learnt about doing compound lifts. I concentrated solely on this and got a lot stronger a lot quicker, put on a stone as well as lose body fat. My current weight is 76kg and has been for quite a while. I'm 6''2 so by no means am I bursting through the seams of my shirt! However, i'm constantly getting better at my lifts and aim to get to

    1.5 x BW Squat = 114kg (Currently 90kg)
    2 x BW Deadlift = 152kg (Currently 115kg)
    1 x OvHead Press = 76kg (Currently 50kg)
    Weighted Pull Ups.

I have never maxed out on a lift so i'd like to think them figures could be bigger given I sort out some flexibility issues.

Now my diet is one area that is of slight concern. I'm a student so eating regularly is my downfall. I know you are supposed to eat every 2-3 hours and eat like a horse (good foods -yes i know). When I do eat I generally eat healthy and considering i am in college I don't drink that much at all (once a week). My problem is I don't have time for all these meals in a day. I use Opt Nut 100% Whey protein shakes (i try to have 2 a day sometimes it's only 1 but with at least 2 scoops). I'm thinking of trying Serious Mass to help get a few extra calories. What do you think?

What do you mean you dont have time to eat in college?I'm in college and I have buckets of time to eat good food.Sure I might substitute a shake for a proper meal if I have a few lectures back to back but by and large Im able to eat well.Line out what your day looks like and when you eat and we might be able to help you out a little bit.;)

Is that bsn serious mass?If so I tried it and I found it too sugary for me.Have a look at the supplements thread there is lots of good info in it.What do you usually do,go out of class down a shake, come back?If so I suppose it's not ideal but it's alot better than eating nothing. If you had two shakes before lunch, eat fcukloads at lunch and two shakes between lunch and and 6 then eat fcukloads when you finish college in the evening you wouldn't be too bad off

    *fcukloads is an imperial measurement.

Heavy as in texture or heavy as in potential to put on fat? I only wants the lean muscles!!!

I can guarantee you that 2 scoops of that will be HUGE... like the scooper will probably be 3-4 times the size of the one you're using for whey. Not a great supplement... real food all the way dude!

Loadsa potential to get very fat very fast!!

Cheers Kev, do you think because I have fast metabolism (been skinny all my life) if I did one scoop it would be ok and I wouldn't put on fat. I have read a few reviews and it seems like a few people do this.

GOMAD, if you want some extra calories, it worked for me anyway.

The serve must be nearly 350g.
To big for a single serve shake imo.

Either do it by half (1 scoop/175g or so) twice a day (1250cals)

Or mix your ON why with milk.
2 scoops whey+pint of milk twice a day is about the same amount of calls and far easier to get into you imo.

And if you think its hard to find time to eat/get a shake in in college try having a fecking job.

you really are overthinking this - eat wayyy more and between classes espcially, lift heavy and if the scales are not going up then you are either not training hard enough or not eating enough

All this might help also - maximum muscle

Tried Serious Mass, very heavy, bloating stuff if you take a full serving. You could try making half shakes instead or consider Pro Gainer Complex (165g Serving - 60g P, 85g C (6g of Sugars), 8g F). Pro Gainer is ON's lower fat more protein mass gainer but its twice the price pretty much. Then again, you can always try eating more but I personally know how tricky (an annoying) it can be squeezing in time for extra food.

Thanks for all the advice lads. I probably am over-thinking this transform, just have to get more focused and plan a scheduled diet or something. Don't worry I have read Maximum Muscle a few times and I'm a subscriber to your blog. Love the advice and also find it very motivating.

    Cheers again

you are very welcome and it really comes down to perperation, consistency and doing the stuff that really matters often i.e. eating right and doing the important exercises

Give the BSN True Mass a go. Try one scoop of it in your shaker with your protein drink.

But you will need to eat more. Pasta, rice and chicken are great for gains. I found that going into spar and grabbing 2 or 3 euros worth of the sliced turkey at lunch and digging into it along with beef jerky was great at lunch times and for snacks.

exactly - its not about specific supplements its about total calorie intake, training hard and then doing that battle with the knife and fork every fecking day
