    For me:

    1. VW Passat
    2. Audi A4
    3. Toyota Avensis
    4. VW Golf (Thanks Confab ;))
    5. Nissan Tiididdlya

I own a Corolla and have nearly fallen asleep at the wheel several times due to the dullness. Sometimes when i look out the window at her, i get a little sad. If i can compare it to one thing, it's like looking at the fat girl that is always sitting alone at the end of a party sobbing to herself. You think to yourself that you're guaranteed service, but a numbing experience.

    saloon almera's

I've had experience of the Peugeot 307 once or twice now and I have to say it has very few, if any, redeeming features. It is boring to look at, boring to sit in, boring to drive and has incredibly fragile build quality.

I am not old enough to remember the bad cars of previous generations, but I reckon of all the cars produced over the last decade; this takes some beating.

There was a thread here a while ago where you had to guess the car from a picture of it. There was one picture that no one was getting right and the poster gave this as a hint -

What company does bland best? :D

EDIT: The car was a Toyota Urban Sh!tter

VW had a period where they sucessfully managed to mix bland with fugly.

i honestly dont know... but i never expected anyone to say a toyota corrolla. I drive one. I also drive a ford focus....

If i was to say what car i consider boreing i would be more likely to consider anything less than 1.4 95 bhpin an engine boreing....As small cars are impractical and big cars in less than 1,4 95 bhp would be a poor mover

    1. A4 (every model was designed at 10am on the first dull, rainy Monday back at work after Christmas).
    2. A3 (the sucker's Golf)
    3. Golf (surprised no-one's mentioned this yet)
    4. Tiida (reeks of retirement)
    5. Accent (can be destroyed in a can crusher)
    6. Polo (where do I start?)
    7. Almera (arrgh)
    8. Mercedes W202 (Mercedes' darkest hour)
    9. Mercedes W210 (ditto)

The 03 - 09 Avensis was shockingly bland. I actually think the current model is quite nice. I need to get out more I think! Funny thing is that I know some people with the older model and they hate the new one. Not quite bland enough?

I actually saw a 2010 Avensis last night in red/maroon and although I wouldn't agree about it being quite nice, it is quite an improvement on the previous model.

Not quite bland enough = correct :D

In fairness there are far more boring cars out there than the ones mentioned in bold. Seat Toledo/Cordoba, Ford Mondeo, Old model Skoda Octavias 1999-2004 era, Toyota Avensis, All Fiat models, Renault Megane/Lagunas.

There's been plenty of bad cars listed, but whether they're bland or not is different...

For me it has to be a Toyota (Any). Or if I really push the boat out, a Fiat Brava.

Don't forget the Chevrolet Aveo, the automotive equivelent of a tesco own brand toaster.

Usually driven by tourists and prematurely aged 40-something women with a weight problem.

A mechanically propelled sleeping tablet if ever there was one.

Lol, nothing to do with the logo in your signature then.

It really depends on the definition of boring really. Boring to look at, boring to drive or both? Also as has been demonstrated in this thread, what one person sees as boring may not be shared by another.

Nissan Micra closely followed by the Almera. Yes, I've driven both.

Compared to the other cars that were about in 1990 the 214 was a savage motor, over 100bhp from a 1.4 with nice comfy suspension. Knocked the sh1t out of Escorts and Kadetts.

Golfs really get my goat, the Irish really have an obsession with them. "Did you here so-n-so has a brand new Golf?" "Oh really? Someones doing well!".

Eh, what? I'd rather rub my face against a cheesegrater than buy something as uninteresting as a Golf.

I think the golf is one of the best selling cars in Europe!:)

The most boring car out there has to be the Skoda Octavia. The only people that buys them are people who can't afford to buy a Golf/Passat!:D

lexus rx450h - the most boring, unispiring use of a >300hp v6 ever imagined. front wheel drive lexus with absolute 0 steering feedback and enough computers to stop you even chancing anything exciting.

Seat Cordoba - do i even need to explain this one

anything in the A or B tax band

I agree and don"t agree, I cannot see for instance Laguna II or Fiat Panda,500,Grande Punto as a boring car.

My definition of boring car is that you are not sure what model and brand it is, and I have seen many of those, most Toyota, KIA, Hyundai brands.

    Guys

to be honest for 90% of people boring = good , ie , you get up in the morning , turn the key AND IT WORKS , you wind down the window AND IT WORKS.

Bits don't fall off , the insurance is reasonable , the servicing costs are reasonable etc.

However , Ill be honest , I once test drove a Tiida , and even my wife said , we can't have that it's tooooo boring !

    I agreed with her.

Toyota Avensis, boring and endlessly reliable, so you'll be stuck with that horrible interior for a very long and dull time.

Obviously you have driven all Toyota's cars? Supra TT, Celica GT4 WRC etc..?

Have to disagree with the golf, owning one after previously owning an alfa.

I'm pushing out > 170 bhp with my Golf and in a car that size, it's anything but boring.

I'd agree that the 1.4 petrol model wouldn't be great though.

Most boring car for me: 1.4 corolla (reliable, practical, safe, but boring).
    or
    Poverty spec Skoda

Ha ha. Gets me too. Can never understand it. It's a Golf and what's so great about that??

I'm sure they're not a bad car as such but they are very ordinary looking.

Fast and boring are by no means mutually exclusive, IMO.

There's no doubt that Golfs aren't crap cars, sure they're a bit over rated in terms of reliability and quality but they're certainly a decent car. But the sheer blind popularity of the basic spec models in this country means every 20th car out there is a Golf. To me the Golf also represents the horrible habit of getting the newest car possible without giving any thought to the car itself; its a prime example of buying for "status" over value for money.

Passing a Golf on the road every 10 seconds makes it invisible to me and ultimately one of the most boring cars out there. It even takes the sheen off the GTI for me as it still looks like a Golf, even though its a great car.

    Fiat Brava.

Are you sure about that? At least the 1.2 are loads of fun on greasy back roads with nice balanced handling and the engine just begs to be revved that little bit more.

I think they are actually opposite to boring compared to brand new '99 1.6 Focus I had for example.

I drove a 1989 Corolla saloon 1.3. New at the time.

It was utterly reliable. Did it's job perfectly.

On the downside it was poorly equipped, and almost mindblowingly boring and uninvolving to drive. I eventually crashed it, and got an Alfa :D

Mercedes E classes - Those people have no imagination at all.

People carriers and 4x4's that are bought for the school run, so all those urban land cruisers and Korean MPV's. They were only bought because they were big on the inside.. how lame is that!

    Base spec cars, in general.
Mine is base spec but thats cos I bought it second hand and to a budget, and I wanted something with nice handling over a POS with compensatory gizmos.

But if I was buying a car new, I think it would be daft to buy a base model.

    Maybe that contradicts slightly.. ;-)

Anything Daewoo for me too. Daewoo Lanos, Nubira, Tacuma, Leganza, all boring. Most Toyotas with the exception of the Supra and the Mk1 MR2. All Opels, with the exception of the VX220.

They're all like announcing 'Hi, I've given up on life, nothing excites me anymore, not even cars'.

Mazda's. (non sport ones at least).

    All Volvo's by definition.

    Toyota Corolla :D

But perhaps the overall winner - the Nissan Sunny:

Hmmm I have driven both a sunny and a corolla..... :(
