First off, I am sorry if threads like this appear all the time :)

Long story short, I am a 19 year old male, would like to lose some excess weight I've been meaning to this last while and get in shape. I'd say I am about 3 or 4 stone over my ideal weight. I'm pretty tall so I can wear it okish luckily, but I really want to lose it as I feel it is holding me back personally and emotionally

I have nothing fancy in mind, just to eat better/a LOT less junk, and to exercise more. I love walking and walk a lot in my week but I don't think that really counts? I would just love some advice on what way to go about losing weight. I see ads on TV etc for weight loss centers and certain apparatuses which can aid one to lose weight. But I just want the easiest and most efficient way.

People tell me jog or swim. I'm not sure how much I should jog when getting started, I feel confused about the whole thing

Any feedback or help is greatly appreciated! :)

Sounds like you are on the right track...start eating better...do some exercise....and results will come.

re jogging - google couch to 5k programme on the coolrunning website. Good way to introduce to you it as a form of exercise.

Do something you think you will enjoy exercise wise. Once the diet is been cleaned up, results will happen.

Couch to 5k is great to get you running. Its only 3x30mins a week. Add in two decent weights sessions a week, clean up your diet (red the stickies on the Nutrition forum and this one for lots of great info) and the weight will fall off you. Dont think of it as a diet, think of it as treating your body good!!

the key thing i want to hear there is the last 4 words.

i'm getting really down in myself with my diet and training and no seeing any real results.
