Hey guys, dont know if I am in the right place or not but....here it goes... :)

I'll start with the basics, im 6ft '4 and 12 and a half stone and fairly fit....Lately i

have watched videos on youtube about vegetarians, and it got me thinking

about my own diet. Now basically I dont eat much meat at all, the only meat i

would take is the burger the odd time and a fry once in a blue moon. I dont eat

vegetables of ANY description....What i would normally have for dinner would

be pasta and cheese, garlic bread and a pizza the odd time.....breakfast would

consist of normally be a decent big bowl of rice krispies(Yes I know, but had them since i was a young lad :P) and sometimes toast

    and cheese.

The main thing i would like to know is if i should start looking into using protein

supplements / vitamin supplements.....basically what advice would you guys

have for a man like myself ?

Many thanks for any replies in advance,
    Davy :)

The cheese you are eating has protein, and so does the burger. Unless you are an athlete, or dieting, you probably don't need any protein supplements. What you do need is to try to introduce some fresh food into your diet, and not be so dependent on extremely processed refined carbs.

Even if you don't have a weight problem, you can't eat what your body preceives to be pure sugar (because that's what bread, pasta and rice crispies turn to) at every meal without suffering in the long term.

A basic multi-vitamin could be useful, also some fish oil, but the main thing is to get some fresh food in there.

First of all thanks for the reply! Forgive my naivety here but when you say

freshfood what do you mean? Fresh food to me is vegetables and

fruit....which i dont eat apart from bananas :o ......I can take a trip to the

natural health store tomorrow to enquire about some multi vitamins!

Thanks again for the reply !

Don't take this the wrong way, but I associated statements such as 'I don't eat vegetables' or 'I don't eat fruit' with children. If you have never learned to like veg (which vary hugely in taste and texture by the way, they are not all the same) then it's not to late to start. If you're really concerned with getting healthy then you need to get vegetables. They have essential vitamins and nutrients that you are currently completely denying your body.

Try making pureed soups to start, then maybe move onto roasted vegetables. You won't believe how delicious lots of different vegetables are. Same goes for fruit; try new things and get over this 'I don't like them' attitude.

    Good luck.

Your diet sounds horrendous to be honest, little meat, healthy fats, fruit or vegetables. You seem to be subsiding mostly on carbs, which is not ideal.

Taking a multi-vitamin is an easy way out and there is no proof that synthetic vitamins have the same effects as naturally occurring ones. Instead of taking protein supplements you could eat some eggs and you will get protein as well as saturated fat, vitamins and minerals.

You can't replace a healthy diet with an unhealthy one supplemented with pills and powders.

Yeh I understand what you mean by the " I dont eat" statement, i have tried

in the past(few years ago) but i just couldnt handle the texture and taste! I

will give trying the veggies a shot again anyway!

Thanks for the advice and replies guys !

why not stir fry in mixed herbs or spices - that you you dont taste the veggies and it really livens them up. Or substitute cauliflwer for mash potaotoes my microwaving until soft or boiling and mash them with a masher, add in a little butter or spices or herbs etc and mash together and you cant tell the difference.

Or make chips from butternut squash - wont notice a difference when baked

Fresh food does include fruit and vegetables, but it also includes steak, eggs, fish, nuts, pretty much anything which will go off if you leave it out of the fridge and don't eat within a week or so.

As others have mentioned, there is a huge variety of fruit and veg, and I find it hard to believe that there isn't a single one that you can stomach. But even things like meat are better fresh. How you are you on big juicy steaks?
