Looking for gym in around Dun Laoghaire, Glenageary

My sister's recently moved back to Ireland and is thinking about joining a fairly cheap gym (she's currently unemployed!) somewhere around the Dun Laoghaire, Glenageary, Sandycove, Dalkey kind of area. And she asked me for a recommendation, but it's not an area that I'm very familiar with and it's not exactly the right area to go looking for cheap gyms, I'd have thought, but there you go!

    Any suggestions?

There aren't all that many and she's not in a place known for particularly reasonable gym prices.

You've got Crunch Fitness in DL, The Blue Pool in Monkstown, Fitzpatricks Hotel near Dalkey, Rochestown Lodge Hotel, Loughlinstown Leisure Centre.

I'd imagine Curves have some place around the general area too, but I've no idea where it is.

As for the above - Crunch has a pretty good range of equipment + swimming pool. It's not really for people who are serious about weight training. Years ago the staff used to be fantastic but they all moved on to bigger and better things (and it appears to be a regular thing in Crunch), I haven't set foot in it for more than 5 years though so I've no idea what it's like now.

Monkstown is quite small but has a decent range of equipment and obviously the pool as well, not sure on pricing.

I've never been in Fitzpatricks but it does have a swimming pool, I've heard it is a bit more pricey than others.

Rochestown Lodge Hotel, too small, poorly equipped - I struggled to do a half decent workout there. The swimming pool is the only plus.

Loughlinstown Leisure Centre - generally well equipped, some of the equipment is about as old as me though. Busy gym too, with some proper trainers in it. I think it's overpriced though, the difference between it and Crunch wasn't huge last time I checked and the general facilities in Crunch were a lot better.

    Hope this helps.

good public gym in monkstown as well
    pay as you go
small, but does the job for those not too dedicated to the fitness regime
