Curious about what? How sophisticated and grown-up they make you look? It's all true!

It's best smoking in America when you see the look on peoples' faces after you tell them you're going our for a a pull of an aul fag!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,783 ✭✭✭Hank_Jones

I smoked for about 8 years, then gave up for a year and a half, started back socially smoking, then smoking again for a couple of months, then I stopped for a couple of months, then I started back for a few weeks, then I stopped, it's an odd thing smoking...

I'd probably smoke a few if I was drinking though, which isn't very often.

I have never smoked and will never ever smoke! Theres these two wee girls who started smoking and my sister told me, i never believed at the start until i smelt cigarette smoke yesterday i couldn't believe it, how could they do that to themselves, i was so shocked i never expected them two to turn out like that!

Used to socially smoke occasionally, havent had one in ages though, so put it down as never smoking.

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

Smoke about 10-15 a day, is that considered heavy? As an aside, that poll is cool because not only does it show how many smoke but it also gives and indication as to male/female ratio on boards, from the small sample it works out to about 5:1, fooking sausage factory in here lads.

    *back to work

What's heavy? I smoke 20 a day. I wouldn't consider that either heavy or light/social. Poll is shite.

I believe that WHO class more than 20 a day is regarded as heavy. Currently trying to confirm.

yes i agree 14 is young, i think i had a few sneaky ciggies at that age too, and while its not good, for someone to say i cant believe they would turn out like that is a bit dramatic imo, but people are from different back grounds and i accept that what might be 'utterly shocking' to someone else is just kids experimenting and being kids to me

Well its shocking to me because i always thought they were good, i always never expect the things that happen in england to happen in my school like smoking and cursing, i mean last there were these really nice ones in my class and they started cursing and acting like thugs it really scared me i wasn't expecting that!

Smoke about 10 per day, so not really a heavy smoker. Though when I'm out I'd easily go through 20!.. I'm definitely addicted to the act of smoking.. I feel like I need one at certain times of the day. Hope to give them up soon to save money more than anything else. I've heard that e-cigs are a great cessation aid

    How much is considered heavy?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,349 ✭✭✭✭starlit

I never smoked and never will! Smoking is a very bad habit though. Bad for ones health. There have been times when I could have given in due to stress not so much to be cool never wanted to smoke just to fit in.
Once you start you find it hard to give them up. Think its pointless waste of money. At least with the booze you'd only spend on it once and a while not every day like you would buying fags.

For health reasons I couldn't take up the smoking anyway. My eyes and nose tear like mad for no reason if a slight bit of smoke coming from the cooker/oven would set my eyes off. Never forget one time being at a wedding, my eyes were tearing so much from the smoke, I couldn't dance properly without my eyes tearing like mad.

I find kissing a smoker even a turn off too though. I'd feel ill with any hint of passive smoking around my mist. Even I'd get a sore throat if we put a fire down at the fireplace, I'm that bad! I have been ill with viral coughs a few times and any form of ciggy smoke could set it off.

I think a woman who is a heavy smoker is so unattractive.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,763 ✭✭✭Sheeps

I gave up smoking when I'm sober about 3 weeks ago. I've been on a couple of nights out and scabbed a few smokes. I'm trying to not be too obnoxious about giving up and I'm probably smoking about 40 cigarettes less a week than I was. Currently I'm on about 10 cigarettes a week purely because I've been going out 4 nights a week which isn't bad in consideration.

I smoke anywhere between 10 and 20 a day, depending on if I'm in work or not, and if I'm in the pub/having drinks that evening.

I bleedin hate "social" smokers. Two reasons.

You either smoke or you don't.

Worse are people who have "given up" but still scab off all and sundry. ****.
