Wondering if anyone here knows much about the flying fifteen sailing boat. Would it suit someone with limited sailing knowledge to get into sailing.

Have been offered one for what seems like a good price and wondering what to look out for on them.

    Any advice greatly appreciated, thanks.

I'll be honest, the flying 15 is not for the faint hearted. Its not the kind of boat that one should purchase in order to learn how to sale. You can definelty learn how to sale in a flying 15 under instruction, but not as an novice owner.

These are stunning boats though and if you do still want to buy it just keep a good eye for the rudder and keel for damage. There should not be too much play in the rundder stock either. My favourite Fox design.

Boats with a sail number over 2750 or so have some improvements to them are more modern that sail numbers before 2750.

Flying Fifteens - lovely boats but not for the beginner. Bear in mind that a FF is a big boat with a fixed keel and therefore difficult to launch / recover from a trailer every time you go sailing. Can be done but greatly preferable to crane it in.

Hey guys, thanks for advice. Picked up an OK dinghy instead to get going on. Will see how I can get used to that but looking forward to it.
