Band and Chain work

    Hey,

I used to do a bit of chain work on bench and deadlift but since moving out of the old house which had room in the garage I have had to put alot of my equipment away in storage.

Does anyone know any gyms on the southside who have chains and bands?, i assume most public pretty gyms are against the use of these accessories but they have seriously boosted my numbers and i would appreciate if anyone knows anywhere that might cater for this perhaps a westside type place in South Dublin?.

    Thanks,

    Lay

Couldn't you just bring them to the gym with you?

Bring chains to the gym?! They need to weigh at least 20kg each for their to be any real benefit to using them, it's completely impractical...

Trying to set up bands is a disaster too. I've done it before. If you want to double minibands to bench with you need to find dumbbells that are AT LEAST 30kg heavy, then wedge them in place using plates as chocks. It's a serious pain in the ar5e.

There's a new gym opening in Rathmines off Leinster Road the middle of this month that'll have a full complement of bands and chains to be used, and benches and racks with band pegs to make setting it all up easier.

Haven't seen the chains in Hercs in about a year unless they've reappeared in the last 2 months....?

Yep, they have them in Raw or did up until last week. Might be worth checking out.

The chains in Raw wouldn't really be suitable for what you want.
They're more useful for dips, and such.

There's no real de-load on them, it's just a few single chains about three or four foot long that are far too thick to clip on to another supporting chain...
(In other words, there'd be hardly any difference between the weight of the bar at the top of the movement and the bottom, regardless of chains, because so little of the total weight of the chain actually deloads on to the ground)

But Raw have no problem with punters bringing their own bands in, there'd be a few of us who use them sometimes.
