    :pac:
Don't see why it should be a red though. It's similar to blocking a quickly taken free kick.

The one in the blue was sent off, she knew what she was doing throwing the ball at the other ones face, can't complain really.

kicking the ball at a player trying to block a quick free kick is different because the opposition are supposed to be 10 yards back and are not entitled to stand in front of the ball.
for a throw in you are entitled to stand as close as you want to the touchline

I think thats changed. You have to be a yard back now I think. Deserved the red though IMO

It wasn't even thrown that hard, not hard enough to collapse on the ground. Now, twould take a good man to stay standing after a point-blank Delap to the face.

Kalou got booked for blocking a Delap throw when Chelsea played Stoke last season. He stood close to the line and jumped as he threw it.

A classic game of long throw's.

Ivanovic was doing it for us while Delap was launching them in for Stoke, what a game :pac:

When I seen the title the first thing about "foul throws" to spring to mind was this bad boy , throwing in a corner

    Pure comical .

Tell that to Rivaldo, 2002 World Cup. Or the many footballers that go down after a tap on the face. Definite red

I don't see how it's a foul. The ball re-enters play is blocked by opposition player's face and play carries on surely?

I think a yellow would have done on both sides.

It'll surely go down as unsporting behaviour and that's probably why it was a straight red.

Maybe from pure shock though - almost a massive flinch? I dunno. No doubt this one warranted a fall though:

You can be booked for jumping in front of a player trying to take a throw in as then you are deemed to be obstructing play but you can stand in front of him all you want so long as you don't jump.

This girl didn't get sent off for a foul throw but for violent conduct considering the girl in front her isn't doing anything wrong and she has went out of her way to throw the ball at her face. i.e. she doesn't take the throw in properly but just fecks the ball at her face more or less.

So does that mean you should get sent off if you kick a ball at someone's face during open play?

Bull**** imo, not a red card.

The odd time in he auld Sunday League, you'd see lads throwing the ball off someone else's body to get another throw-in or corner whatever, only difference here is that it can be construed as intent to hurt etc.

    Yellow card imo

Commentator reckons its a straight forward red.

If youre standing that close youre asking for a ball in the face imo.

    Yellow at most.

If that is a red then Petrov should have been received the same for Bulgaria this evening too.
