Hemorrhoids/Piles

*** Mods - I want to keep this thread on the fitness forum as I want to get the views of those who work out in the gym etc. ***

Just wondering have many of you suffered with hemorrhoids/piles due to lifting weights or the diet you have?

I have a hemorrhoid/pile so went to the doctor today (he is also a sports doctor) and he gave me a prescription.

It appeared this day last week and the day before I did squats and deadlifts in the gym and really pushed myself during them, I really struggled with the weight of the bar, so I have a feeling this may have contributed to it.

Anyway he told me that a lot of weightlifters suffer from them, just wondering have many of you suffered from them before?

    Cheers

I have an occasional flare up of them and yes, these flare ups always coincide with heavy squats or deadlifts. I think once you have them once you'll always be prone to getting them again. Not really a big deal, just take it easier when you have them and take plenty of hot baths to soothe them :D

    We all have Hemorrhoids.

The issue is when they become inflamed.

    They are veins.

What were you prescribed and what is the result so far?

Do you use anything on them?
Scheriproct or Anusol are both good ointments.

I was using over the counter Anusol for the last week as well as a bath each day and it went down a fair bit but is still there.

Today the doctor prescribed Scheriproct Suppositories  and Scheriproct Ointment.

So will start it tonight, not looking forward to trying to sticking a suppository up there, anyway has to be done.
