Is it true that Blink 182 split up a few years back after their Dublin gig? If so would anyone know what happened?

Thought this was the Rock & Metal forum not After Hours?
    Here's what today's EH said:
"You made us break up, you f***ers!" Hmmm, you make an interesting point there, Tom.
Yes, the last show that San Diego pop punk pioneers Blink-182 ever played in front of a live audience before p*ssing on their chips in spectacular fashion was in fact six years ago within these very same walls. And, while Mr DeLonge may just be joking with us tonight, we can't help but feel a tad responsible for the events that followed.

So once again, does anyone here know what we did to cause them to split up?

It was nothing to do with Dublin if thats what you're genuinely asking!

well, we did cause Blink 182 to be called Blink 182.

i like the notion dubs could have been the beginning and the end.. only its recently come to my attention they have an upcoming show here so they didn't 'split' thats just a front whilst they take a break to live it up and lighten their wallets then return to a rapturous reception having 'reformed'.

in the meantime, Jedward are on tour performing their material. next best thing

It is the Rock & Metal forum not the Pop Punk forum. Your question might have been better posted here or here but I imagine you'd have gotten similar answers regardless.

just noticed their O2 show was last night. i'm sure they reaped the rewards but you want the truth? some band member called Tom wanted to spend time to help rear his toddler isn't that cute? n make more babies having amassed enough wealth to do so.. n then some but 'indefinite haitus' is not nearly 'split up' that was just naive sensationalism from the general fanbase. who were emotional at the time i assume..

    - peace out.

Faked a plane crash then, killed a few people and then had them say Tom was concerned about the guy who was one of his best friend for years as an excuse for getting back on talking terms  If you consult wikipedia you'll see its a common tactic for bands to sell a few records!

lol absolutely. we can't get fooled again as history's repeated itself far too often now there's no original tricks left in the industry whatsoever. check this out too:

However in a live video posted on Youtube Delonge declared: “I do not want to be in a bull**** pop band with some bull**** pop songs while you drive your ****ing bull**** car and sing along to it like you’re some 14 year-old girl.”

he admits they're sh*t, the fans are naive or just children and proves he proves he's a hypocrite by 'acting out' the boyband thing again for the sake of the almighty $.

    punk rock baby.. :o

Well, last time I checked Blink 182 were pop punk so they definitely don't belong in the Rock & Metal forum. The punk mods can of course move this thread again as they see fit.

    dregin's obviously not a fan of Blink-182.

I actually was. A long time ago.

I own every album up to Enema... They used to be a fun pop/punk band that I enjoyed listening to and actually had a ticket to the gig that was cancelled.

They are no longer what they once were. They've turned into a soft rock band. They have no relevance in this forum.

I can never understand how someone could stop being a fan of a band unless they've done something extreme like run over your dog in their van. For example I haven't liked anything Metallica have done since 1991 but I'd still class myself as a fan because regardless of what they produce afterwards, their first few albums are excellent.

As for Blink-182's genre, I still class them as Pop Punk and therefore more relevant in this forum than where the thread was started. Anyway, as I said in one of my previous posts on this topic:
The punk mods can of course move this thread again as they see fit.

They are what they are, threads don't get moved from Rock and Metal because they are mathcore or post-hardcore or Nickleback etc. because the are not pure metal or rock. Don't you love sub-genres :D

I think the posters on Rock & Metal have better taste than to be listening to that band!
