    Check out Jason Kelly's site -> http://www.aiklf.org/

I did a certification course with Jason a couple of years ago. He really knows his stuff, is a great teacher and a top bloke to boot!

Is that qualification like the RKC?

Sorry unsure of where it stands compared to RKC. But it is the qualification used by the instructor with kettlebelldublin.

Ok, thanks. I might consider doing it. Once you have that you are qualified to take classes and instruct, is that right?

    1. Are you looking to get a 'certification' so you can teach kettlebell classes?

    or

    2. Are you looking to do a certification course just so you can get better at kettlebell work?

A combo of both would be good but mainly number 2

That's cool...if it's 1. that you were after I would go for the one that is the cheapest and enables you to get insured to carry out classes...if any of them do. For 2. I'd just try to work with people that are more experienced and or better than you.

Is instruction needed before using a kettlebell or is it just a weight with a handle? Would people recommending going to a couple of kettlebell classes first?

I've been working away with Kettlebells myself for a couple of years now so I think[/] I know what I'm at anyway. Having a proper coach validate what I am doing would be good and then if Iw as able to take classes, that'd be a bonus.

To take a class in a gym or something in KB's I'd just need a certification and insurance, is that right? Any idea who would provide said insurance and ballpark cost?

There's an instructor in the ntc that runs kettlebell classes and he had spoken of setting up a weekend certification, last time I spoke with him this was scheduled for September/October...maybe keep an eye on their site or drop them a line to see is it happening. Alternatively you can pm me and i'll pass on his details if you want to contact him directly.

    I would do as follows:

1.Find out whether you actually need to be certified to call yourself a kettlebell instructor or to teach classes.

    2. Find out if you have no other fitness related insurance whether being a certified instructor enables you to get insured.

If the course you're doing doesn't confer any status on you or enable you to get insured I'd spend my money on training with the best person you can find in your area...get them to show you the basics...go away and practice A LOT...go back get some more help if needed then fire away.

Like Oly lifting I've been coached by people with no qualifications but who lift at international level and I've had kids straight out of Uni who can't do an overhead squat with an Oly bar and couldn't snatch half their body weight try to tell me what I was doing wrong....I know who'd I'd pay for coaching.

Last time I checked with my insurance you didn't need a cert do teach kettlebells. Think it was something like if you were a qualified PT you would be fine, maybe S&C qualified helped as well.
I'd agree just learn off some people that have experience in them. I learned most of it of a S&C coach who didn't have a kettlebell qualification at the time and also a russian dude in the gym that was using them since he was 10 (Russian dude was the way better coach :D )
