i think it's maybe called thousand island dressing when you mix the two together?

so, how bad is this for you? i get the whole onion, lettuce, tomato, cheese, chicken together and then put maybe 2 large spoonfuls of this on it.

am i underdoing any good work?

mayonnaise is quite high in fat and thus calories, similarly ketchup is quite high in sugar.

If you only use a bit it's not too bad, but two large spoonfuls could run you over an extra 100 calories.

You could use light mayo, that would help. But the main thing would probably be to use less.

French's (american style) mustard is VERY low in calories and you might try that out as an alternative.

It would be marie rose sauce, thousand island is basically marie rose with other bits in it, like pickles.

I love the stuff and would also recommend frenchs as a good alternative. Watch out for other deli ketchups though, many are loaded with added fat. Frenchs has about 4-5% fat which is naturally occurring.

Using low fat salad cream instead of mayo will cut down calories, but many low fat ones are bulked out with starches which many would consider worse. You could always try making your own mayo.

There is another cheaper american mustard out in tesco which is very like frenchs. I posted about it in the mustard forum (yes there is a mustard forum!)
