    I am back to university in October and want to loose weight and hopefully build some muscle. I drink and eat a lot of junk food and takeaways

    also have big man boobs so how do i get rid of these.

    so i am hoping to loose the man boobs and about 3.5 to 4 stone in weight then hit the gym in about 4 months. is this possible to loose this amount of weight by skipping and how long would this take.

    please help me frown.gif:confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::pac:;):o

    Fixing your diet should be your main priority I think.

    Cut the junk food get a balanced calorie deficit diet (read the stickies) skipping can be a good way of burning calories but you might get bored by just doin tat, you could join the gym now and do a mix of weights and cardio, aim to lose 1-2 pounds a week

    Skipping is great cardio. BUT, you'd have to do a huge amount of it for a significant reduction in fat, and it's hard work and will get boring. You'd be doing it for hours every week, and at 17 stone, I suspect your knees might not thank you for that.

    Join the gym at college, and use it. If you concentrate on lifts like squat, deadlift and bench press, you'll gain muscle with relatively quick workouts.

    My suggestion is to buy a bike, and use it. If you cycle to and from college, you can easily give yourself hours of quality cardio without taking time out of your day, and save money at the same time. Cycling won't burn as many calories as skipping, but it's very easy to cycle for an hour a day and burn maybe 600 extra calories. Skipping for an hour a day might burn 1200, but I doubt you'll do it often.

    The bad news is that it's extremely difficult to exercise off significant weight. You need to get your diet in check as well. What are you eating now?

    I just said it works as cardio. Look at boxers, they skip and they have great bodies. But skipping is not a beginner's cardio workout. You need to be in good shape before you start or you won't get the benefit of it. Do other forms of cardio and gradually add in skipping as you go, until you can do skipping only as cardio.

    However, you are extremely unlikely to be able to skip away a few stone of fat. You need to get your diet in order as well.

    I'd make an internet bet with you that after 6 weeks you'd be lucky if you were able to do 5 minutes of skipping in a day. Your first 2 to 3 stone loss will only be by diet with the assitance of exercise which most likely in your case should be walking or cycling. So the answer is no!
