Fúckin love em. Spent along time searching for the secret ingredient that made homemade burgers taste as good as McDonalds. I knew I hit the jackpot when I found these!

No in the past, yes in the present.

i love them, so much that for past 3 years Ive been growing them. When you get a burger, it usually only has about 3 slices. I add about 10 to my own.

    Love them

Have to laugh at people in McDonalds picking apart their burgers to take them out.
Why buy something you don't even like?
You know you can ask the staff to make a burger without them anyway?

The easiest way to do this would have been to open up a McDonalds burger and have a look at what's in it... A gherkin.

Do you pickle them aswell? I find the pickled taste is the best part. so scrumscious! Forget the beef, just throw a load of Gherkins between two buns

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,919 ✭✭✭Schism

Not for me, they're the only think I pick off a burger.

Hated them as a kid...would physically retch if there was one in a burger and I bit into it...hated onions as well.
As I got older, the tastes started appealing to me...mustard is the only fast food thing I never acquired a taste for...

    No Poll?

I love Gherkins on Burgers, the taste of them reminds me of my first time in McDonalds when I was a kid being brought to Cinema for the first time that night also.

It's a burger joint, not a restaurant. And I have hands. :pac: I worked when I was a kid and I hated people that pissed around at the till dreaming up custom burgers so I usually fucked up their order out of spite.

I also rarely get burgers in those places so I don't usually have to.

They're great, and there's even a temple in London to commemorate their greatness.

Gherkin burger for me. No need for anything else tbh

    Gherkins are evil.

I never eat in McDonalds for this very reason. Gherkin-free Burger King all the way.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 137 ✭✭Banji

I take them out. There's always someone there who will eat them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,778 ✭✭✭✭Kold

Pickles are awesome. I just don't like it when I get the end of one.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,659 ✭✭✭Devil08

Looking at the poll it seems Gherkins are here to stay guys. Its a victory for the gherkin! :D

I heard last night that they go great with vodka!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,039 ✭✭✭face1990

They're my favourite bit of the burger. I'm always kinda disappointed when I've eaten them and have to eat the rest of the burger gherkinlessly.

Needless to say, any homemade burgers are extremely gherkinful.

Gherkin is such a wierd word.

Love gherkins but not on burgers.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,228 ✭✭✭epgc3fyqirnbsx

The gherkins that you get in burgers tend to be kinda crappy (though i still monch them) and this puts a lot of people off.
But there's absolutely no comparioson of a sh*ttys maccers gherkin and proper pickled gherkins that you chop up yourself for sambos. With beetroot too. Nyomers

I still enjoy the McDonalds ones, and if I'm there with friends they all give me the gherkins from their burgers, so that I can have extra in mine, but you're right the ones that you buy in the glass jars are far superior. Sometimes I just pick one out of the jar and eat it by itself.:)

Sometimes when I'm too lazy to make a sandwich I just grap a gherkin and hunk of cheese and wrap them up in a couple of slices of ham and stuff them all into my gob :D

I like them in burgers in McDonaldsdisease. They definitely make a positive contribution to the overall taste of the food item.

If someone asked me to eat one from a jar i'd punch him square in his ovaries.
