Dont know whether you could class this as obscure

but just marvel at the cutting edge technology that was used to teach us then:pac:

Me too! Amazing how something so simple(and predictable!) was hilarious every week. It probably wouldn't get beyond a pilot episode nowadays!

The theme music to Pigeon Street stuck in my head, I still hum it from time to time.

    Yes, sad I know!

This is another catchy theme tune, though we made up the lyrics as we couldn't figure them out!

    Hello Little old Lady!!!

Thought there was more lyrics in the Creepy Crawlies theme song. Something about only having one ear to the ground?

Always used to like the Chocagirl episodes over the Chocobloke episodes.

Does anybody remember an old kids program that used to be on the den about an old man with a beard that lived out on his own in the woods in America or Canada(not Grizzly Addams). The shows name was the old mans name but it was like a funny sorta nickname.
Zig and Zag really hated it and useta say that they had hid the program under the stairs etc so they wouldn't have to show it but Ray always found it again.

I wanted to lick the buttons, especially the transperent ones, they looked like they'd taste of lollypops :o

Unbelievable flimsy looking sets there!

I kept expecting the Chock-a-Truck and the "Chock-a-extendable-seat" to break under the weight of Chock-a-Girl.

Hi! I've been lurking on this thread for a while and decided I just had to register today to see if anyone can help me out with an obscure TV show from the 80's. I've tried to google it but I dont think I have the name right...

It was about a black and white cat (puppet) who used to read the news. He had one of his arms / paws in a sling and he wore a suit. He used to do a fashion segment (bear with me here) on forks with food items on them i.e. "modelling a potato" I always thought it was called Telly Cat which I have tried to do a search for but nothing has come up. I've tried Tele Cat, TV Cat and Tellie Cat as well.

Does anyone remember this show or was it really just a figment of my imagination?

It was on The Childrens Channel early in the morning if my memory serves me correctly.

I wonder if it was Catweazle? I don't remember it very well but maybe someone else does! All I remember was his brown robe like a monk - but I think he was a wizard or something.

I used to love Orm & Cheep as a kid! And Chockablock, but that wasn't on tv half as much as I had wanted.

This one was pulled from the dusty vaults of my memories a few months back when it was posted in this forum. Watching it again is mad, it was fairly obscure and also a bit dark in the last episode. Not many people I have talked to remember it, or watched it.

I remember that show too, it was called Telly Cat. Been looking for it on the Internet for a long time but no joy. I can still hum the themesong in my head, lyrics went something along the lines of

There are so many types of cats
Cats large and small and something something
Any of them will tell you that
Our tv show is Telly Cat.

Anybody remember the stopmotion animation shows that used to be on The Den? The were made by QuinFilms, creators of Bosco's Tongue Twisters and Faherty's Garden.

Here is one of the more popular ones : FloraDora

No not Catweazle. The man was american, he looked a bit like one of those mental old prospectors from the westerns.

No Mulk, but I remember the beachcombers. The show I'm thinking of the old man was the only person in it except for his dog and a few animals. he reminded me of the old uncle from the dukes of hazzard.

I use to hate that program, I use to think they were ghosts of dead children trapped in a vintage dolls house. Our teacher in junior infants use to show us that on VHS. I had a disturbing dream about them being on the end of my bed as a child...Freak show of a program "shivers"

Anyone remember this one - I'm pretty sure it was on ITV, slap bang in the middle of the 80's..He Man era etc, basically 2 Gnomes out the back of somebody's garden, not sure if it was men dressed as Gnomes or a cartoon..I think it was called Fish N Chips or maybe Chish and Fips - might be totally wrong, but definitely would be classified as obscure!

I would also praise this show. I bought the full series recently and the Praed seasons (1+2) actually still hold up as a good show (not just a retro favourite). It has excellent characterisation and is beautifully filmed.

The connery season (3) is weaker not so much because of the guy himself but because it's clear the production values weren't as high (even the season had twice as many episodes to the previous seasons).

Well said, to both posts. Nickolas Grace also played the Sheriff of Nottingham terrifically.

One of the great TV moments of the 80's!! Guy of Gisbourne was a badass!! (if i got his name right)

...and let's not forget young Ray Winstone!

...and the turkish looking dude, who came back from the crusades, he had two swords and sadly never really used them, yet portrayed the illusion he was a master swordsman. I'm sure back then I carried two sticks and thought i was him!

    Found him! Saracen

Phew! I thought I was the only person who bought the DVD box set. Only bought the Michael Praed seasons though. Didnt even have interest in the Jason Connery episodes when I was a kid.

Also agree that some of the episodes have stood the test of time. The final couple of episodes in Season two are excellent drama. Especially the final scene at the lake ... wont give anything away (in I spoil it for someone); fans of the show will know what I'm talking about.

I have the Legend album that Clannad released but sadly much of the music from the other series was lost and remains lost to this day. :(

Anyone remember Jigsaw? It started late 70s but I remember it best in the 80s. Janet Ellis (Sophie Ellis Bextor's Mum) is in it.

Who can forget The Adventure Game and the creepy vortex? For years I thought I dreamt up this whole programme!

    The Children of Green Knowe

    Metal Mickey
