Having trouble posting here. Made the switch to Mac, and posting photos on boards seems to be the one thing that isn't 10 times easier with it. Flickr has a new way of grabbing code that doesn't seem very mac-friendly. Had to use the old laptop to put that up^^^. If anyone could link me to a thread that could help, I'd really be grateful

    where was that taken?

It's taken in Glendalough, Wicklow. At the main carpark beside the lake, the walkway inbetween the carpark and the lake itself :)

What made the bright effect in the background of that may I ask?
All photos I take at night are, well, pretty much black.:(

It was taken just as the last light of dusk was on the horizon, about an hour after sunset. The key to good photos at night is having some light, any light, and using a long exposure. In this case, 30 seconds. The front of the church is actually being lit by a lone streetlight, which isn't that bright, but leaving the shutter open for 30 seconds allows the camera to collect enough light.

It sure is, the whole of Russborough House is. We had a great afternoon there. I had to carry her around the maze cos she was too tired. But once she got back into the horse training ring she did 4 or 5 laps without taking a breather....

Btw, the light in there was just gorgeous...

Granted it's not a great photo but it's a great find: common lizard in Kildare.

I made a mistake, it was a smooth newt, not a common lizard.

    This is a hoverfly:

Plasticman, are you sure it wasn't a microscope attachment you picked up? That's seriously close! :)
