Not feeling hungry after waking up

I normally don't feel hungry until about 2 hours after waking up.

I don't have a problem with that, but am curoius as to the reason for it. Sometimes I feel a bit peckish before falling asleep, yet have no appetite 8 hours later.

    Anyone know why?

I'd love to know too. I feel nauseated at the sight of food first thing, only start to get hungry 2hrs later, and this could be since fasting from 6pm the previous evening.

Used to try and shove food down before work in an erroneous belief that it 'helps the metabolism'. I think the whole reasoning behind it being that in our society we have predefined times to eat: before work; halfway through work; after work. So the idea being if you miss breakfast, you won't eat until lunch and being really hungry, you'll make terrible food choices, which will then set the trend for the rest of the day, which is probably true.

I now bring my egg muffins and eat them at my desk at around 10:30am. My digestive system seems much happier with that. :)

What time do you have dinner?

I don't really have set times for meals.

Whenever I get hungry I'll eat something.

Im the opposite. I always wake up thirsty and hungry! If i could have a pint of water waiting for me each morning it would be great.

    I'm the same!!

Hungry when I go to bed, but don't feel hungry at all when I wake up!

I don't think it's our society that has predefined times for eating though, I think it's more to do with our circadian rhythm. Our body recognises morning as the time when we "break the fast". Or so I've read somewhere, at some point...

Me too. Couldn't eat a thing when I first get up. Have always been like that. I'm happy to go with what my body is doing naturally so I just eat about 2 hours after getting up.
