Which is more important to you in a prospective partner / spouse -you can either have diving beauty but little personality and intelligence, or great personality compatible with yours and a compatible level of intelligence but completely physically unattractive to you.

You can have either, but not a mix of both - which would you choose?

so it depends on the situation. if you've spotted him in a night club you might think he's cute, if you meet a bunch of lads and get chatting, one guy might stand out because he's really funny or interesting

I used to go for looks when I was younger but now it's personality.

Looks don't last forever and on occasions they damage a persons personality if they are aware they are attractive.

Ideally (if there was a mix option permitted in the poll) I would be for about 80% personality and 20% looks. Personality is a lot more important IMO, but you cannot be with someone long term that you either a) cannot have a reasonably intelligent conversation with, and conversely b) you cannot be with someone that you do not find any way attractive at all.

Hence the 80/20 mix.
