I have been working out in the Gym over the summer and 12 weeks I have lost 6lbs. My body fat is down and muscle is up but I'm just wondering if this is ok or should my weight loss be faster. I know the muscle gain wii slow down the scales but you see all these ads on tv where ppl loose 2 stone in 6 weeks ect. Would love some feed back

    Hi Gossipgal,

In order to reply, your age, height and weight are important. And as well - try to describe your gym routine ;), and how many times per week you were doing it.
That way I would be able to make more precise comments and give you some feedback.

    Take care,
    Giggi

First of all what are you using to guage your progress. i.e. how do you know your body fat is down and muscle up. Scales, body fat meter, just by looks

Their current diet should be included as well, its probably the most important part of all.

    Hi Mellor,

Yes, you are right. Here is the reason why I asked what I asked:
My philosophy is that people who are new to fat loss programs need to learn step by step all that is linked with their new lifestyle.
You are right that the diet is important, no doubt about that. But if we gonna ask too many questions at the beginning, and if these questions are this broad as yours 'what do you eat?' - then they will never have any real answers from us.
Gossipgal was asking very basic question to which the basic answer is in calculations. These calculations (even though not the most exact as we are unable to know exact amount of fat/lean mass) are the very base to continue meaningful communication.
This is at least my approach to my clients - because I understand their position when they speak with a professional who overloads them with information and the only thing they want to do is to leave.
I prefer to take it easy ;)

    Regards,
    Giggi

I work out at a gym and they do our stats every four weeks or so. they measure body fat/muscle/water %/

In that case, Gossipgal, your trainer is able to give you the most accurate answer to your question ;)

That's fine. I agree on the little bits of info idea.

However, I think "what's your current diet" is always, in the case of weight loss diets, question number one.

You can't out train a bad diet.
