There's a thread on home workouts as well just do a search for it.

You don't need a gym, loads of guys here work out at home. What you do need is the motivation to do stuff on your own time...and a few bits of equipment!

I went 7 weeks where I couldn't get to the gym and trained with a Kettlebell and found it to be excellent. You should look into some of the workouts on youtube.

just left the gym a couple of weeks ago and bought some free weights, barbell/dumbells, and a bench, training every day now, i miss some things about the gym, i was in various ones for many many years but the home thing is going well, however i know what i am doing regarding exercises/form etc - do you? if not i suggest joining a gym for a while and get some routines etc

Gyms are f*cking awesome! If you just want to say "I was at the gym"...

A set of weights that are adjustible = easier and cheaper.

It depends on what you want to do exactly.

By "muscle up a little bit" do you mean you're kinda chubby and want to muscular or that you want to add more mass?

I'm thin more than anything, just looking to get bigger arms and lose any excess fat.

Take a look there. I learned quite a bit from the guy.
They've got a forums too so you know, you get more help there than here. Just don't join a gym untill you're sure that's your best option.
