BELT TO BUY

Bodybuilding belt has padding, powerlifting belt has no padding but is heavier duty, provides more support. A dipping belt gives no support, and is only for clipping weights to. If you got a clip with a chain, you could loop it through the buckle on either the BBing or PLing belts to attach weights to.

Are you sure you actually need one? I have a dip belt for chins & dips but have no intention of ever getting a BB or powerlifting belt. There might be better equipment you could be spending money on -though I do like my ironmind belt. Some people have used karate belts for a dip belt, or you could use webbing straps, over 25kg and you might want a proper belt.

Whatever belt you do buy, make sure to wear it as tight as you possibly can.

Then walk around the gym with your arms flared, as if you're carrying a roll of carpet under each arm.

Makes your lats look really impressive....;)

Seriously though, I think it all depends on what you want to use a belt for. For general gym work, a bodybuilding belt is perfect for most of your needs. As rubadub mentioned, there's no need spending extra money on something you don't actually need at the moment.
