Looking at the pictures it seems it one of the routers on this website:

    http://www.sapido.com.tw/

It's too late now to have a closer look but it might help you with some googling

It's not going to make any 3G/HSPA connection work better
The 300Mbps of 802.11n WiFi is very optimistic. It can easily be 11Mbps to 30Mbps shared between the users. You need 802.11n laptop/netbook too.

If it's only used for Internet then the 300Mbps 802.11n is irrelevant as your speed is the 2Mbps down 0.5Mbps up typical and easily 0.2Mbps down and 0.05Mbps up with 300ms Pings.

    Proper link
    http://cgi.ebay.ie/300Mbps-Wireless-N-WiFi-Extender-Broadband-3G-Router_W0QQitemZ120607990379

It does seem to be from these: http://www.sapido.com.tw/EN/product_router.htm

I'd let someone else test it and use either a Router running OpenWRT or a Dovado
    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055361790
Or tested Routers on this thread (not just ones mentioned)
    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055506944

Too much hype on that product.

Yea, I thought it looked a bit too good to be true.

I've Ddwrt running on a Linksys linux based router working as a repeater for the last year or so and it works ok.

Was more interested in getting the 3g modem to connect to a wired network as a friend wants to set one up in his house out the country.

I had a quick look thru the threads you listed but will sit down later in the week and have a good look. Haven't got time today, on the hill, up the dubs.

    Thanks for the quick reply.

Hiya, I've got Edmiax 3g-6200n running with K3750 from vodafone and that works fine.
Before you buy any router check it's compatibility list with usb dongles as not all are supported (especially wimax -> imagine wimax uses motorola dongles and I found only one brand that supports them -> cradlepoint)

No router will support everything. You need to check the compatibility list for any router, and see if your modem is supported.

Probably only custom Firmware Router supplied via Imagine will support their WiMax Mobile Dongle. It needs completely different kind of driver to 3G USB modems.

It said it supports wimax usb on the box even show how to set it up, but still won't work
    .

There's probably more than 1 type, no router supports everything. The picture on the box is meaningless, you need to see the full compatibility list.

It doesn't have a list. But it is the first one to support all broadband so it say.

    There is no such product.

    Probably.

Even different WiMax Modems need Different drivers. Mobile 3G/Hspa and Mobile WiMax are not actually Broadband either.

Wireless Internet Technologies advertised as Broadband are:
    • Flash-OFDMA
    • 3G/HSPDA/HSUPA/iHSPA/HSPA/HSPA+
    • EVDO
    • EDGE
    • Foma
    • iBurst
    • IPW
    • ERAN
    • LTE
    • Wimax (Various incompatible versions)
    • S-CDMA (i.e. Ripwave)
    • WiBro
    • Chinese 3G CDMA (I forget exact name)
    • Various outdoor flavoured WiFi

EACH of these needs diffent drivers for EACH manufacturer and EACH model of each Manufacturer. A huge number of drivers. The driver is a complex program and sometimes DSP code too that's loaded into the modem at boot time. It's not like a table of IR commands in a "one-for-all" remote.

Some can be very like real broadband if not over sold in an area. But since they are Mobile there is always risk of too many subscribers on one mast sector and sub-broadband performance or refusal to connect.

Even Dovado, Netgear, Linksys/Cisco and Dlink may have completely different vendor locked firmware for different systems on that list. You'd not easily swap the Firmware between EVDO, 3G/HSPA and Flash-OFDM.

    Their claims are exaggerated.
I've compiled and help port drivers for some of these. That's why I'm sceptical. It might support someone's WiMax dongle somewhere.

You need to Contact the ISP that supplied the Dongle to find out what Router they recommend.
Sapido routers are Wimax ready. For the compatibility, please double check with local distributor in your region before purchase.

    All Broadbands can Work
No matter what kind of Internet connections you use, ie. 3G、WiMAX、xDSL/Cable/Fiber or Public WiFi,you may share the connection via this Mobile Hotspot.

    Via http://www.sapido.com.tw/EN/productrb1132k_35g.htm

They may not actually have ANY wimax cards yet!

3.2.2 WiMax modem cards support list of RB-1132.
Wimax modem card support list of RB-1132 will be published soon.
( The WiMAX compatibility will be differed from systems and areas )
It's an "Asian" sense of "All Broadbands can Work", it's not really claiming to support ALL Wireless Internet technologies

WiMax is a Family of Technologies

Do you mean Imagine WiMax? If so, you must say so in full as there are other quite Different higher Performance "WiMax" systems in Ireland.
