Saw a lovely blue Maserati in Cork city 2 weekends ago, the same car 00-D-1007 was for sale up until very recently on Carzone for €10,970. It had 100k miles on it but it still sounded beautiful as it passed me (I was walking so I could hear the lovely gurgle from the exhaust as it slowed for the corner).

That is a really interesting way to spend your €10k, similar looking to this one:

only it was blue with cream leather, 4 years older. Not sure if it was 4200 or 3200. Nice all the same.

If it wasn't for the bloody tax I would have the 6 series tomorrow Conor.

    Absolutely love em.

That is a real nice looking one too.

    Damn and blast this country.

    I wish I wasn't so young :(

Recently spent 10k on an A4, not saying I'm unhappy with the purchase but some of the cars posted here are gorgeous! Could never afford the tax, insurance or petrol.

Once you get to 25 XS Direct will pretty much insure you on anything, with the 2-4k excess caveat of course. No NCB needed (and you dont save anything by having one). Then you just have running costs to ponder.

Still a few years to go on that one unfortunately... Only turning 23 next month. Can't afford my own policy either as I have too many points. Been on my mams policy since I was 17/18 and on my GF's now.

I should've known someone would suggest an Octavia. VRS or not, if I had 10k and no limit on engine size the VRS would NOT spring readily to mind.

BMW 330ci would be my choice.

    something different - and you mentioned 4x4 - a forester 2.5 XT

OK, so far I'm interested in the:

    BMW 325ci

    Audi S6

    Mercedes CL

    7 Series

Despite the fact I wrote this (http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=176389), I don't want to go to the UK as I might need to trade in my own.

    Any more?

    Get the CL55 AMG.
You can't beat the AMG 5.5l supercharged V8!!!
Does 0-60mph in less than 5 secs.

  • Registered Users Posts: 259 ✭✭frank gooding

No supercharger in the AMG one earlier. They only got that from '03 on.

But still a nice V8 all the same.

    Ooh... didn't know that.

Now this is a stretch but this one will do 0-60mph in under 5secs!

He either got the 03 biturbo version a year early and so it's registered as a 02.
    Or
He's lying about the biturbo bit!!!

Its a pity the interior looks so cack, other than that I'd have one of them. (Well based on my VERY limited knowledge of them)

    This is a great thread.
I too am looking for a new car (new to me) and have maybe slightly more to spend (can push it to 13k). I had been looking at sensible cars BMW 320, Audi A4 and hadn't really been considering anything in the performance categories.
Just looking at what's out there for 10k. I'm really tempted now.
€1500 tax on anything over 2.5litres isn't too bad right.... Insurance? sure it can't be that much more expensive....
Anyone else want to halp me justify it to myself......

I've just been reading another thread and from what Mr. Dempsey says, it would be worth your while waiting until motor tax as we know it is scrapped and the tax is added onto petrol and diesel as an "all-in-one" tax. That's make way more sense to buy an M3 then :D
