If your buying a treadmill first thing to look at is the warranty and servicing on it
You need to make sure you buy from a reputable seller who has service engineers to come out and fix any problems you may have.
Try and make sure you get them to install it and then walk/run on it before signing the delivery docket. If you sign it your saying it was installed in good condition, if you later realise that the belt is loose (very easy to tighten if you know what your doing but most people dont) then you may get stuck with a €125 call out charge to tighten it for you.

Im not familiar with either of the brands you have chosen but if you do look for another one Horizon are sturdy, reliable and cheap. They have an okay reputation.
If you decided to put a bit more money into a Treadmill then Life Fitness are the only brand with a Flexdeck for serious shock absorption. Techno Gym are also excellent but Im not sure if they are doing home equipment at the minute.

Make sure you run on the treadmill before you buy it all good sellers should allow this. You want to make sure the deck is long enough for your stride and also see how much spring is on it.

If your tall and planning on running on this thing 4 times a week you really really want to make sure its comfortable for you!

Hope this helps and sorry for going on about it! (I work in the industry)

Thanks. I was looking at the proform one also. But what is the story with the warranty? It says on the elvery's site to contact them about it.

Thanks eilo. That was very informative. I have read good reviews for horizon on other threads here. The treo one is horizon I think. When I searched reviews of it I came across this: http://www.motorisedtreadmill.org.uk/horizon-fitness-t102-treadmill/ It says its horizon. I was wondering why Elvery's don't have it advertised as that.

We won't be getting it for another few weeks so I will do plenty of research. We could stretch the budget to €600-€700 if its necessary. Thanks again :)

like the other poster said, warranty is the most important thing. Proform do not have a good rep in this area. Once you buy the treadmill, if anything goes wrong, its not Elveries you will be dealing with, its the manufacture.

I have heard that Proform/Nordic Track have poor warranty service, you can be waiting months for spair parts.

I have a Horizon, and I can vouch for their warranty service...they will be out to you a couple of days after you call them, with parts etc and will sort out the problem there and then most of the time... with that said, my motor went after about 4 months which I was not impressed with, and the dude didn't even seem that surprised.

Anyway, it was a demo model, and the motor was replaced immediately so I was happy enough, no trouble since. Horizon also give a 3 year warranty on nearly all of their machines, a lot of others only give 2 years.

I have also heard that Bremshey have a good warranty service, but their machines are a bit more expensive.

If you do go for Bremshey, get it direct from the wholesaler (scoriopn fitness) as other places will charge you nearly double.
