hop up now doesn't work at all now no matter how much you dial it up  I am using a soft silicon guarder hop!

I know I am not giving enough info to work out what's wrong but just thought I would add this to the pot! ;)

Correct me if I am wrong, but they Masada uses an ares hop up chamber, with its own kind of hop up nub, Some ppl have said it is a figure of 8 style, so I don't know how easy it would be to replace. Can you even buy figure of 8 nubs?

The only thing I did on mine was replace the bucking with a Guarder Clear. Can't say I saw much of an improvement on range, but saw an improvement on consistency. Mine is shooting between 310-320fps (with .2 of course).

    Changing the rubber is simple.
    Just take off the handguard.
Then you twist the lever on the barrel, counter clock wise if I remember correctly, but its in the manual.
    The barrel pops out.
On the very top of the barrel you will see a small hex screw.
Remove this screw, becareful not to lose it, and becareful as the inner barrel is spring loaded.
Once you have the inner barrel out, there is a small cap on it which should just slide off easy, revealing the rubber.
Put on your new rubber and repeat in reverse.

there is an in depth reveiw of the masada in this months airsoft international.

i don't know if the inner barrel is a tightbore but i would imagine it is as my fagpul masada is seriously accurate at good range, the stock rubber i found was a little "hard" so i had it changed to a promethes purple hop up rubber and the range is very good.

thermo did you just change the rubber? or did you change the nub aswell? do you reckon the prometheus purple works well ye? i have a gaurder in at the moment and the hop up dial is extremely sensitive. wen dial is at no hop it drops within 20meters wen dial is turned about 2mm its hopping way up. i only changed the rubber i didnt go near the nub. with hop up off its chronoing at 325fps.

yeah the new rubber works really well. only changed the hop up rubber not the nub, hope this helps.

Are they supposed to come with a 6.03? I haven't been able to find out the standard barrel diameter, mine didn't come with a 6.03. Having said that, I don't think you'd notice a huge difference in accuracy as they're already pretty accurate.

hi has anyone replaced the stock motor? if so wat size is it long type short or medium? does anyone recommend a good make of motor? thinking systema energy. full auto is bit slow not too bad but could go little faster. i use 9.6v nimh.

Be careful ElDiablo - as far as I am aware the motor is non-standard. It fits in a cage attached to the bottom of the gearbox to keep the motor pinion gear engaged - but that probably means that it's a slightly smaller size than your usual motors (a guess - I've never had cause to pull the motor out - but an educated guess based on the space available in that grip).

yep, closer to the v3 than the v2, short shaft motors fit fine

tanx lads think i might do a re-shim on gearbox before i put new motor in as i dont trust manufactures job, thats if i go high speed.

guys just remember any internal work will void the warranty on the masada

anyone do any internal upgrades on this gun yet. i have a few bits to put in but havent started yet. i have active brake mosfet, high torque motor and good set of gears to put in. but bit unsure how to put mosfet in because it has micro switch instead of normal trigger contacts. also there wiil be 2more wires comin from gearbox not a whole lota room to feed through to battery.

ye i really like that a-tacs camo. you can get a-tacs stocks grips etc., for standard m4s on the net now.:) did you change the motor in ur masada yet? i have systema helical gears and systema magnum motor to put in mine with active brake mosfet. but have to figure out how to solder in with the micro switch.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,440 ✭✭✭✭thermo

I was talking to mike in QAS and he said they are hoping to be doing water transfers soon on stuff like grips to full guns. Not changed the motor yet, I thinking of going nuts and gutting the internals and changing the lot.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 661 ✭✭✭elDiablo79

ye me too. tinkin of systema cyl set or guarder cyl set. is the cyl head a version 2or3?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,397 ✭✭✭MerryDespot

    No. Just No.
You know that I'm a multicam fiend, but a multicam masada.
    No.

I feel I need to quote one of Shiva's old rules:
"Guns should be black, unless they're - a.) a masada or scar or b.) gucci. Then and only then tan is acceptable".

$130 for a 11.5" barrel, $110 for the RIS hand guard and €80 for the folding stock... Damn you MagPul :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,397 ✭✭✭MerryDespot

Yeah, they certainly know how to extract money from people - and that's coming from someone who had the price of the masada extracted from him!

I've zero interest in a folding stock or a short barrel set. I may be persuaded by an AK lower receiver however - but I've yet to see them available anywhere.

Probably just as well - the cheeky swines would probably want a couple of hundred for one!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,818 ✭✭✭Private Snafu

Know how ya feel KeV, unfortunately haven't gotten to skirmish mine yet.

From reading around the net the AK lowers are not TM compatible, would kind of defeat the purpose of having one in my opinion :(

What interests me more is the possible GBB kit in development for it

Nope - but they are compatible with those lovely beta project pmags that I already happen to have a few of ... nice.

Ah ... they'll keep figuring out ways to bilk us out of more money - after all we'll remain the fools who'll pay for it.

What are the beta project pmags kev?

hi lads i was wondering what is the actual company that makes the magpul masada. it has magpul externals and some ares internals ,i am not sure if its been mentioned on the thread already or if its a silly question but cant find the answer. still not man enough to part with 550 euro yet, i think it is very over priced in ireland. still mad for 1 though
