Okay inspired by this thread, what's the funniest animated TV show aimed at adults from this list? Consider the whole run of the show rather than just new episodes.

Apologies if I left anything out.

I have a strong feeling this is going to be moved to the TV forum. But hey while I'm here I already know it's going to be a close match between Family Guy and South Park.

    Beavis and Butthead.
There are rumours of new episodes being made in the near future.

Of all time? The Simpsons, seasons 3-9 are hands down, the funniest television ever, animated or otherwise. After that, rarely, if ever, funny. Now, it's a toss-up between South Park and Futurama when they're on form.

Overall: The Simpsons, even though it's been sh1t for far longer than it's been good. But when it was good, it was beyond sublime...

Fixed your post to reflect my opinion :) South Park just tries too hard to be edgy, cool and offensive. It's boring.

    /awaits flames :)

Really? *googles* Interesting. Memories of secondary school and lunch time in friend's houses watching B+B on the VCR are flooding back...

I remember liking the premise of Drawn Together and hating the end product.

My vote goes to Kill of the Hill mainly for being original and having it's own story that it kept expanding upon.

Granted if I had the option I'd be voting Daria over and over again.

Despite my avatar, Beavis and Butthead rules all!

    DUCK SEASON
    FIRE!

    Heheheheheheheheheheh!

EDIT: And Pepé le Pew, Duck Dogers, Porky Pig, Tweetie, Marvin the Martian, Taz, Wil E Coyote, Yosemite Sam, Sylvester and I say I do not fawget, do nawt fawget Foghorn Leghorn.

Classic. Aw. That's me on youtube for the rest of the day!

I haven't seen that programme in years. I remember it being either really good or really bad, never inbetween.

    Huh-huh-huh-huh. That's pretty cool.

Don't know what the details of the new show are but I'd like if they made the age they would be today and we could see how crumby their lives turned out and whether they're still whacking off in Johnsons tool-shed.

(never mind - checked - still teenagers)

The way Cleveland's girlie son talks is funny - that's about the only good thing that show has to offer.

It has to be the simpsons and south park!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,227 ✭✭✭✭ejmaztec

"Tonight with Vincent Browne" has got to be up there with the greats.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,284 ✭✭✭bonzodog2

For me, of these choices its got to be Futurama. The Simpmsons is still good but I can't watch it anymore, even the title music alone annoys me. Too much !

Robot chicken is good too. Anyone remember Duckman ?

At its best, The Simpsons knocks any of them into a cocked hat.

Simpsons post-2000 hasn't been great, but Family Guy isn't much better. The episode Brian and Stewie was pretty touching, though, and would be classic if the humour wasn't so completely and needlessly puerile.

Futurama is probably the most consistently funny on the list.

South Park is often clever, but definitely should not be in the lead.

The Simpsons is the only one in that list that was ever funny. It's rubbish now but in its prime it was brilliant. Futurama had its moments but I don't think I ever went into fits of laughter watching it like I did with The Simpsons. I may have chuckled at it once or twice but that's about it.

I think the old Tom and Jerry cartoons were a million times funnier than the likes of South Park. Just being foul mouthed and politically incorrect for the sake of it doesn't pass for humour in my opinion. I honestly have no idea how anyone over the age of fifteen can find it funny. Family Guy is just a poor imitation of The Simpsons. Sadly The Simpsons now seems to have become an imitation of Family Guy.

Out of that list, futurama. But the all time funniest has to be the road runner, meep meep. Spongebob kicks ass too by the way, hence the username. Also does anyone remember a cartoon called Victor and Hugo, they were 2 french criminals, del boy done one of the voices and they were absolutely hillarious:D

Overall, i'd have to go with The Simpsons. Like Dudess said, it hasn't been great the last few years but it'd still be one of the greats.

Stopped watching South Park for some reason, must pick it up again.

earthworm jim was really underrated. Remember the episode when he's tryin to get his neighbours eggbeater back for her?
As for the vote, i think the best episodes of the simpsons are the best programs i've seen on telly, animated or not. I can only imagine what the film would have been like if it had been made around season 5, equal of the holy grail at least i reckon.

I really liked The Tick. Can't believe Stressed Eric is on the list that was woeful.
I voted South Park enough though some episodes can be cack it is more consistent than other shows.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 383 ✭✭Scrambled egg

It has got to be family guy at the moment. The Simpsons hey-day is long past and the show has been following a downhill trend for quite a while now and is nowhere near as funny as it used to be.

South Park is alright, but its not the same sort of funny as family guy , which is clever , South Park is defo more about just ripping the pisss out of everything , which is great, just my 2 cents on everything :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 204 ✭✭mecanoman

"earthworm jim was really underrated" witty too.

Princess Slugforabutt! This was aimed at Kids, brilliant stuff.
