    Hi,
I eat between 4 - 10 slices of brown bread after my dinner and before going to bed. My stomach is all over the place. I need to stop eating the bread and eat something else.
    Any suggestions?

Why do you eat so much?

Why do you eat so much?

    Are you actually hungry?

What time do you have dinner and what time do you go to bed?

    Suggestion:

    1. Walk into a supermarket.
    2. Look at the brown bread shelf
    3. Everything in the supermarket that isn't on it is "something else".

There's a thread on the front page with a similar title:

Alternatively if I was being a smart arse I would say:
"Just don't eat it, it's easy to not do something...you just don't do it!"

Have a boiled egg or some cottage cheese or something else with protein in it, keeps you fuller for longer!

I have always had a very high metabolism. But now that I am 35 it's not so easy to shift. I am always a bit peckish. I eat my dinner and then just keep going on the bread the hole evening. It's a bad habbit I suppose.

I don't drink that much - 2 units a week but I am feeling I am getting a beer belly. I have a hiatus hernia was told I would be on Nexium indefinetly but managed to kick the need for them by cutting out crips and some other things.

Usually go to bed around 11.45. Would eat 5 - 10 slices after dinner and before bed.

Not been a smart arse but ... stop eating it? Replace with a better alternative like already said - cottage cheese with cocoa in it for choco kick or greek yogurt and berries: something that's filling.

There is no secret way etc to kill the cravings. But it's possible to examine the reasons behind them. I'm guessing after dinner you are lounging around house for few hours?

It's likely just a boredom thing mostly.

If you have dinner at say 6 then don't go to bed till near 12, your going to get hungry.

6 hrs is a long time to not eat.

Perhaps have a supper or snack around 9 or half 9? Nothing big, try have a few eggs or can of tuna or something? that will help keep the hunger at bay.

After that it's simply self control. You will have to practice some restraint I'm afraid.

Do you live on your own? Or do you have control over the food in the house? Maybe stop buying it? If it's not there you won't eat it!

When you feel like bread, brush your teeth. That taste makes most food taste bad and will destroy any nice taste from bread.

Another thing to consider to help you to cut out the bread is simply don't buy it. If it's not in the house you can't eat it.

What is you average daily diet like? wha tdo you have for dinner?

I find if I eat a healthy well balanced dinner with fiberous carbs (veg), Protein and some healthy fats, then I don't feel that hungry after that.

Also as has been said already a measure of self control will be required.

Last night I had no bread. But had ambrosia cream rice instead.

    Usually my diet is:
    1. Bowl of porridge in morning 5 days a week. toast or yogurt 3 days a week.
    2. Lunch: Brown roll with Rocket and meat fillings.
    3. Dinner. Meat, 1 veg. Potatoes / Pasta / Rice.

After dinner is when the bread cravings kick in and I can usually have one or two slices before dinner as well.

In the evening, I usually have stuff to do.

Is that seriously all you eat in a day? If so I am not suprised that you are able to eat lots of bread in the evenings.

OP, sounds like addiction to me!!! Your not alone, just had a quick search: Your not alone

Like any habit, the main thing to do is break the cycle. Have a search around at food addictions and find a solution you feel will help you.

Evening snacks are always a problem with me. It's much easier to control your diet in the morning and throughout the day, up until around dinner!

I'm guessing you don't live alone so not having any bread in the house isn't really an option, as other people probably eat it.

I'd suggest each time you feel like bread, log onto boards and read this thread, or at least your opening post. Then decide if you feel like brown bread still!

I did something similar when trying to stop my addiction to Coca Cola (don't laugh - it can happen! :)). I wrote down a list of reasons why I wanted to give up Coca Cola (expensive, wanted to lose weight, didn't want to erode my teeth, didn't want to get diabetes etc.) and everytime I felt like drinking it, I read through my list and then didn't feel as tempted. I also drank water every time I craved Coca Cola, as then my thirst felt quenched and I didn't crave Coke as much.

It seems like you just got into the habit of it. Try drinking a big glass of water or some other beverage. The healthy snacks mentioned earlier should help keep you feeling full.

the way I look at it , your dinner should be your last meal of the day if you have normal hours. Anything like bowls of cereal/sandwiches etc at night are a disaster and is a good enough reason why someone could add a stone in a year.
If you need a snack they have to be low cal or not moorish, a small handful of sultanas and a couple of walnuts or some kind of pickle mix does it for me.

Your diet seems OK, I would suggest adding extra veg in your dinner which might take the edge off the late night munchies. Or eat some fruit after your dinner, drink some water

Have 4/5 eggs scrambled a few hours after dinner then. You won't actually manage to eat that much though. It'll just help kick the habit of eating loads of bread, and it's nice and healthy.

If you're wondering about your "beer belly", maybe all the yeast in the bread isn't helping?
