    Setanta College Strength and Conditioning
Anyone else here doing the Setanta College Strength and Conditioning Course?

If you have what are your experiences with it?

Its a higher certificate that is now going to go on towards ordinary degree and then honours degree.

I hear both Jim Kilty and Liam Hennesey have stepped down. Does this take from the course or are they being replaced by people with similar experience and qualifications?

im confused about this....18 modules 540 a module? you can only complete 4 modules a year...so 4.5 years?? and nearly 10k??

or have i read that all wrong?

Most part time degrees are at least €2,500 per year and as some over €4,000 a year so I'd imagine the price isn't that unreasonable, having said that like everything else...apart from wages :)... it would be great if this and all other courses came down in price.

anyone have any other opinions/experiences of the course?

What opportunities are out there for graduates?

I completed the strength and conditioning module about 4 years ago. First of all the delivery of lecture notes over the net and the quality of them is first class.(although lot of spelling mistakes, which I am sure have been ironed out:))

Mcqs tests are over the web and are quite good and making sure you know what you are learning. Practical workshops were beneficial and had good lecturesers.

With regards to opportunities the way I look at it is that such a course is a foundation. You need to knock on doors, use any contact you can think of in "order to get the foot in the door".

Note I did the course in jim and Liam's time, so things may have changed.

    And yes they are expencive!!

Anyone with up to date information about Setanta college and their courses?

I see the next courses are on the start of March. I'd be interested in the 18 month course in strength and conditioning as I'm involved in a lot of GAA coaching but wouldn't have a big knowledge of the physical side of things.

So was thinking this could be a big asset for my coaching if I could also work on the physical preparation of teams. but obviously its a big chunk of cash to be paying out so would like to be sure its a worthwhile course to pursue
