    hi,
anyone out there know of a way to backup emails and outlook 2010 data to a local storage drive. i just purchased a new dell and windows 7 plus office2010, so i'm still getting used to the changes. but i see that both dell and the software providers want us to now backup online, and pay for the privilege!
i prefer to keep using the old method of a local hardrive, so, any help is appreciated!

    thanks,

    duffsaw

How to automatically back up your personal folders file in Outlook

While the utility itself does not say that Office/Outlook 2010 is supported, the instructions linked to above do have a section for Outlook 2010 so it should work.

Obviously this method assumes that you have a good archiving process in place to move your email from your mailbox to a PST. Personally, I'd combine this with IMAP access to the mailbox so that in the event of a bad Outlook crash you still won't lose any data.

Or you could always create an backup email address with gmail, and have your outlook automatically forward all mails to there. Use that as a permanent backup.
