i got an email from leinster rugby this morning (im a season ticket holder) saying i could buy an extra 4 tickets before they go on general release.

it didnt say how much the tickets were though.

As a season ticket holder this game is included in my ticket. My ticket is for the south terrace in the rds and funnily enough thats where ive been put for this game in the aviva.

On the ticket master page while it says the tickets are not on sale yet. there is a little info box in the top right hand corner where it says ticket prices are 30-70euro though.

It also says not to buy tickets for the upper tier if you suffer from vertigo!!

70 quid for a Magners game lol

got the email today too, prob a good idea to move the game but doubt it will sell out. Might creep up toward 40k though?

First competitive game in Aviva though so you never know.

goes on sale 18th August, 9am. I wonder how the tickets will be priced. That will be the big question.

Also the upper tier is very high. Went to the football last week there and its some trek to the very top and would be worried if there was a rush to the exits it would turn into a disaster.

Ok, good to have a decent crowd for an inter pro but are Munster going to give up home advantage later on in the season?

Where would it be moved to? Thomond Park is the biggest rugby stadium in Munster, as far as I'm aware.

Move it to lansdowne as well ..... It's as much a home venue for munster as it is for Leinster ..... Besides it's probably worthwhile getting as much experience playing in the stadium (especially for the kickers) as fast as possible

Personally wont buy tickets for any rugby game in the bedpan until they get real with the price of tickets.

Ya wouldnt agree with munster moving a game v's leinster to the Aviva at all.
    Why bother?

perhaps but overlooks the cost of travel to Dublin and possible overnight trip...especially if family with kids

70 quid for a Magners game lol

its cost me €50 for a ticket in the RDS (as an away supporter) where I could not see one end of the pitch properly

€70 for lansdowne with better views??

i presume the Munster allocation will be North stand anyway

50 quid for a Magners game? Thats outrageous. The most I've sprung is 30 and it still feels like too much.

Not really, Lansdowne is what, about 10 minutes from the RDS? I'm pretty sure all the Leinster supporters that would go to the RDS could make it to Lansdowne, the same can't be said for Munster supporters.

So it appears that the season ticket holders have been given one of the worst blocks in the stadium .. really annoyed this is not in the RDS now

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,352 ✭✭✭funky penguin

    What block?

  • Site Banned Posts: 5,346 ✭✭✭wixfjord

Havelock Square end I think was mentioned on LF funky.

  • Subscribers Posts: 16,616 ✭✭✭✭copacetic

mine is not at that end, it's in the lower south pretty central. happy enough

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,692 ✭✭✭shawpower

Those people (like me) who have terrace tickets in the RDS, have got lumped in down the Havelock Square/NorthStand section. Which seems a bit harsh to me. Yes, my season ticket is the cheapest on offer from Leinster, but I choose it because I like to stand at games. But now I get penalised for this, purely so they can sell the better seats at a premium to people who support Leinster but don't buy a season ticket, or the Munster fans....

I would have thought it would make sense to seat the terrace STHs at that end as they should be able to generate a decent level of noise from fewer people?
i.e they've done it to try and keep home athmosphere at both ends of ground.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,207 ✭✭✭durkadurka

    anyone know where BLK107 is?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,198 ✭✭✭✭Crash

East Stand, on the southern 22 from the look of it. Nice spot, I got 115, which is directly behind the posts in the South stand.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,889 ✭✭✭Third_Echelon

My season ticket is for the North Stand in the RDS. I got allocated to Block 113 behind the posts in the South Stand of Lansdowne....

As if that's the sole function of people who go to the terrace. I want to watch the game, you know. We have been given the worst seats in the house by the sounds of things.

I'm a munster season ticket holder but I'm not paying 50+ to get a reasonable seat there. I'll be in the pub where I'll be able to see the game and have a few pits with the rest of the people who won't be going because it's too expensive.

I don't blame you, wouldn't pay that either.

Why on earth would Munster give up home advantage in April?
This is a home game for Leinster, they have already hinted that they will play their bigger HCup games here so this is a good run out for them and also for the internationals on both sides to get a game there before the AIs is helpful.
I will certainly travel to this , dying to see the stadium in the flesh.

this why they will get a good crowd tbh

its an easy opportunity for people to see it...less demand and cheaper than internationals

after a few people pay a lot of money and end up in the Gods with a vertigo attack they may not bother returning!!:pac:

The Clermont game is confirmed for the Aviva. Not sure about Sarries or Racing, but think they are confirmed for the RDS.

After hearing the prices for the AI and 6N, it looks like Leinster games are the only way I'll see the inside of the Aviva.

They will probably sell out too as there will be a lot of interest in the stadium but second season syndrome/ coupled with a declining rugby side (IMHO) could see demand and thus prices fall next year.
A bit like Thomond mark II. Last year even for ML games Thomond could boast 20000 but this year there was a slight drop as the recession bit hard and most Munster "fans" had been to see the new Thomond and didn't go to the games this year. Prices haven't fallen yet but there are far better deals for season/10yr ticket holders for extra tickets etc. proving the same demand isn't there.
I would even go as far as saying that in another 2/3 seasons Munster HCup pool tickets will be readily available from ticketmaster. But by that time the new stadium will be nearly paid for but alot of "fans" will have moved on to the next big thing if Munster aren't winning the Cup every second year.

Thats going to be awesome. I'd say there will be a real test atmosphere. Hopefully the Clermont supporters come over in their droves again.

Yeah the match against them last season was a real highlight, the atmosphere was unreal. That and the first game against Munster were fairly unforgettable nights.

I can't see Landsdowne being needed for Racing Metro or Saracens as they only barely filled RDS last year for HEC games.

There's an opportunity cost involved. you probably need to be sure of 35000 attendance to make it worth moving.
The RDS is paid for already and the STH's have already paid for their seats, so you probably need to shift a lot more tickets to pay the rental for Lansdowne before you make a profit.

Would it need to be rented? It belongs to the IRFU and Leinster rugby is a branch of that. I'd say a fair whack of people will turn up given last year and the fact that Clermont's ex coach is now heading up Leinster.

There is a fair element of people going to Thomond for the look who aren't massively into the game. No problem there as long as they get behind the team and maybe come back again.

Just a heads up lads, if I have to ban anyone on this thread for getting into tribal feckology, it'll be a long one. Don't say you haven't been warned.

I wasn't saying they weren't real fans but that that they literally didn't exist since you were using scare quotes. Don't worry about it, it was just a (terrible) joke. :)

You may know that, I may know that, but no doubt some knuckle dragger will mange to take huge offence and start a flame war. Such is the way with LvM threads of any sort as anyone who's been reading this forum for any length of time knows. Just a word to the wise. Leave it there.

Fair point, I dont know to be honest, wouldn't surprise me if it was owned by a holding company of joint FAI/IRFU who would be looking for a rent for it.

Over on the Limerick forum there's a thread about the rise in unemployment, I think a lot of people in Limerick simply can't afford match tickets when you can watch games for free in the local. I realise you mentioned this in passing but it's a bigger problem than you give credit for. Keith Earls often mentions how his father would go without pints at a weekend so Keith could have a new computer game or something, there's large parts of Limerick where there isn't 20 or 30 quid spare a week to pay for tickets. Even in the good days Moyross had 25% unemployment for example.

According to ticketmaster, tickets go on presale tomorrow at 10 and then to general public at 9am. Can someone explain please, is the presale only open to Leinster Season ticket holders?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 813 ✭✭✭dave13

yes, every season ticket holder got emailed a password
