Looking for some good music to wallow in following a break-up

Hi everyone

I'm just wondering if people could suggest some good songs to listen to following a bad break-up to a 10 year relationship where the other person cheated. The angrier and sadder the better as far as I'm concerned right now.

(ps. If it helps, I'm mostly into alternative/indie music - which is why I've posted this thread here - and particularly like Irish singer/songwriters.)

I can't listen to sad music after a break up. If I hear love songs I feel awful and like chucking myself under a bus (not literally).

Throw on some Prodigy there and practice some of Leeroy's dance moves instead

Music is so emotive! I couldn't listen to soppy songs after my last break-up, even though my sister make me a CD of slushy music she thought would be therapeutic!

I listened to these a lot, usually for a line or lyric I identified with:

The Emperor's New Clothes - Sinead O'Connor
Let a Good Thing Go - Gemma Hayes (although this may not be appropriate for you!)
Pretty much ALL of my Elbow albums on repeat!

Husker Du's Candy Apple Grey has a few break up tracks (Don't Want To Know If You're Lonely, Sorry Somehow) and is quite full of sad / angry tracks.

Also: Frank Black & The Catholics - Black Letter Days (though it does stray into americana at some points).

For sad music I'd reccomend anything by The Smiths/Morrisey. Most of their songs are pretty blue.

I'm mostly into indie alternative but I found Back to Black by Amy Winehouse and Brown Eyes by Lady Gaga are great wallowing tunes.

I always like listening to Tracy Chapman for when wallowing, David Gray is an obvious but good choice. Some of Dido's stuff, ah there is loads, it is whatever is relevant to you.
I remember listening to the James Blunt album

loads when I went through a hard break up.

I can't access youtube to play anything from here but search for 'Poke' by Frightened Rabbit. In fact, that entire album, The Midnight Organ Fight, is about a break up.

I really appreciate all the suggestions and the amount of responses, I'll be looking into all of them (once I get back from camping this weekend, trying to keep myself busy at the moment or I might go crazy).

Yeah have been trying to find appropriate songs in my own collection, but got sick and tired of finding songs that seemed to tell the story from his point of view (songs by the guilty party in a break up). Lonelily by Damien Rice is one of the most appropriate I've found. Come Pick Me Up is a good classic angry one from Ryan Adams. Calexico can be nice and dark too. And although I may be scorned for bringing up Alanis Morrisette, You Oughta Know has felt very appropriate for me right now. I guess I've never needed break up music before so that could be why there is a lack of it on my ipod!

Btw, my username isn't very gender specific so just thought I'd clarify that I'm female.
