Hey Guys I know it's early but I'm already anticipating a great game and I'm hoping we get off to a great start I'm also wondering how are we going to line up?
    Gomes
    Kaboul--Dawson--King--BAE
    Gio---Huddlestone--Modric--Bale
    Keane--Crouch/Pav

I went for Gio on the right because Lennon has a strain and might not be back and Defoe is the same I reckon hee'll start crouch as Harry loves he guy and Palacios didn't impress against Fiorentina so I'm hoping Modric will act as our second Midfielder I think it's a pretty nice line up :)

That's a very attacking line-up - I like it! I hope Keane starts as he deserves a chance considering his pre-season form. Him and Pav would be my ideal front pair. Our defence is really going to have to buck up because City will be very fired up for this one.

Gio has really impressed me with his tracking back and Modric showed last season he can play cm now I think it'd be great

keane most likely wont be at spurs by the start of the season .

    gomes

    corluka --- dawson ---- bassong ---- bale

    lennon ---- hudd
    wilson
    modric

    crouch --- defoe

With Defoe doubtful and the form that Keane is in, I would hold him at least until Defoe is fit and well. Gio is worth a start instead of Lennon as well

    will gio start on sat?

I hope so. He's been in great form and if he's to show us what he's capable of there's no better chance than this.

Doubt it . He's far to light for the PL. Probably worth a fortune to sell to the Spanish or to Italy but I dont think he'll ever cut it in England. Shame because there's no doubt about the talent.

As regards my line up - this is what I'd like to see :D

    Gomes

    Cor
    Dawson ---Bass
    Bale

    Lennon ----Wilson ---Thud ---Modric
    Young

    Defoe

    Bench : Cud, King , Kranj , Sandro, Bellamy , Keane , Crouchy. :p

Don't get me wrong I am a big fan of Gio but I think we need Palacios on Saturday. We need a hard tackling ball winner against Man City's creative mid field. He might not have impressed in his last game, but he has on countless other occasions.

Far too light for the PL???? I seem to remember people saying that about modric, now he's almost 1st on the team sheet

    Gomes
    Corluka
    King
    Dawson
    Bale
    Lennon
    Pal
    Hudd
    Luka
    Robbie/Defoe
    Crouch

I can't see it changing much more then that, I'd love to see to see robbie prove everyone wrong and come out swinging for the fence and grab a couple.

    Great to see it back.

Think Kaboul might play a larger part this season. Obv, they need to use the squad more selectively with champions league on the horizon (fingers crossed).

Is Bale going to be fit come Saturday?

    Unlikely I would say.

Saturday will be warm and wet chaps:

BBC have Bale in but Pav out for the Match meaning Crouch will start although I'd love to see a top two of Gio and Keane

    why not defoe?

Very defensive formation by Mancini - 3 holding midfielders! Perhaps he's trying to pull off a José Mourinho and hit us on the counter-attack. I presume he's playing a 4-3-3...

Spurs are playing amazing. Bale should probably have a goal and an assist already. What a player. The work rate all around has been great too, Defoe and Crouch even getting back and working hard.

Great display. We defo deserve to be winning though.

Unfortunately not. :( Hart is playing out of his skin to keep the ball out. We are looking twice the team though. Looks like some atmosphere inside the Lane. Hopefully once we get one in, they'll be completely opened up. They don't deserve anything judging by their first half.

Absolutely cracking efforts from Hudd, BAE and Defoe.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,081 ✭✭✭ziedth

    It's great to see,

A part of me thought we wouldn't be out of the blocks till December.

Hopefully we can burry them now.

    yeah i did thanx.

great first half eh. hard reminding me of some of gomez's performances from last season!!

heres to a winning second half

Absolutely gutted we didn't get the 3 points. We certainly deserved them.:mad:

Dissapointed 2 points dropped although it was a great performance

wudnt say it was a great performance. we were great in patches but just good overall. luca was totaly off form today whatever happened him.

im happy with a point after opening day against one of the contenders. we NEED players though, some extra bodies i.e. bellamy, richards etc

I thought Modric did well today. And I thought it was a great performance overall (bar not scoring). Just one of those games. We created plenty of chances and should of had at least two.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,661 ✭✭✭mickman

modric made a few good interceptions but that was it, his passes were all over the shop. attempts at shots were the usual weak efforts

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,778 ✭✭✭✭Kold

I wanted Gio to come on for Modric rather than Lennon alright.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,081 ✭✭✭ziedth

I'm gutted too but I'll take it TBH, shows everyone what we're about.

Enjoyable game (if you were a neutral ;)) Modric faded badly and was lucky not to have been replaced. Our lack of a top drawer fox in the box finisher told against us today. We won;t achieve our full potential unless we sort that out.

I thought Modric done ok he was prob a bit tired after his international game during the week,we def let City off the hook today but I am very happy with the performance by Spurs with a bit of luck we could have won 3 or 4 nil,it gives me great hope for the coming games..COYS...:)

Realistically who is their? Who would you get in to be our "fox in the box"?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,778 ✭✭✭✭Kold

In fairness, it was just freakish that Hudd and BAE's volleys were stopped, nothing wrong with Defoe's swivel shot either.

Dunno but I'm Arry does if Levy would just loosen the pursestrings. The 4 strikers we have aren't bad players but theyre a notch down from the very top drawer.
If we get over Young Boys I'd expect to see some qUlity coming in upfront.

Stoke away next that's going to be a really difficult game hopefully we can take the three points

I thought we played well today, pity we didn't manage to put away one of those chances. But in fairness Hart played a storm.

I wonder if Pav will start ahead of Crouch next game?

don't think Pav did enough to justify starting next game.
