    Hi,

Does anyone know if tables are included in the word count of essays? What are the penalties for going over word counts in essays.

I'm not sure but I'm sure this depends on the lecturer also? I'd suggest contacting them even though most won't reply during the holidays now.

I would suggest contacting Student Services in your department if you cannot contact your lecturer directly.

From what I was told when putting together my dissertation (incredibly strict lecturer btw), was that tables and such do not count. I'd go with Webmonkey's idea of asking your lecturer, if you can get hold of him/her, as others in my year were allowed to count words in tables.
