What happens if you stop taking supplements?

I have been taking glucosamine and chondrotin in tablet for about 4 months (bad knees) and Cissus(also in tablet form) for about 2.5 months.

During this time I payed 10 competitive football matches and attended 10x 1 hr training sessions for same. I alo did a little training myself outside of this.

The tournaments are over now and I am back to one night a week kick-about on astro at a much lesser intensity.

Do I need to keep taking these supplements? What, if anything will happen if I stop taking them? (e.g will I be more prone to injury?) and lastly, am I better off going on a e.g 30day course and then stopping for 30days and then starting again?

Any advice would be much appreciated:D BTW im 39 years young :D

I take G&C daily and will do so for the rest of my days.
There is no reason to come off them - they are not cures for anything but they can aid recovery and perhaps prevent degeneration of the joints occuring or slow any degeneration down.

Cost can be a factor where chondroitin is concerned.

I tend to take 1500mg glucosamine plant based hcl & 1200mg shark based chondroitin from three 500/400mg tabs and then take 1000mg hcl plant based glucosamine three times a day as well.

I know a few hip surgeons and all take the G&C religiously themselves.
