    Derry 4/11 v Cavan 9/4 Draw 8/1
    Donegal 1/4 v UUJ 3/1 Draw 9/1

Will be going for IT Tralee v Waterford myself. Waterford hit by some withdrawals from the squad players looking to join the hurling the team and the fact that IT Tralee are Kerry. Also, college sides can often be good value in these given their closer proximity to the Sigerson cup.

lol I backed against Waterford though. Knew that the footballers were having a bit of difficulty with some of their main guys gone to trial for the hurlers and that this would be a tough ask for them.

Little nuggets of info like that are what can make the pre-season matches profitable :pac:

ha ya- should have followed ya on that @ 13/8- especially with Tralee IT being a Kerry college- they bound to have good team.

Don't use that logic, very few serious players in Kerry go to Tralee - they're all highly incentivised by the Cork and Limerick schools to move up there, CAO points requirements flouted etc.

Any decent GAA specials out there?

Odds for a repeat final of NFL final of Dublin-Cork.

Refund if Kerry win the All-Ireland?
    etc

I think this could be well worth a big investment.

basic gist is that a combination cork/kerry/dublin and tipp/killkenny to win Football and hurling. I couldn't see any team outside of these competing for their respective competitions.

    cork/tipp 9-1
    cork/kk 9-1
    kerry/tipp 9-1
    kerry/kk 9-1
    dub/tipp 10-1
    dub/kk 10-1

Start out with 6 units, 1 unit on each

best case dub and tipp/kk win. 11 units back.

you lost 5 units on others.

    6 units profit.

other scenarios see 5 unit profit... That to me is an 5-6 and even money shot... double your money in 5 months (may to sept)...

A quick look around shows me that you can get 4/1 on cork in WHill and 13-8 on KK so that double would be 12.12/1, much better than above! I think this is a great bet... could prob return around 6/4...

While I agree that it is likely the winner of the Football will come from Dublin, Cork or Kerry, it is by no means a certainty, and the likes of Kildare, Donegal, Tyrone and even Mayo cannot be definitively ruled out.

That said if I was put on the spot in I would personally plaump for Kerry/KK double, but 9 months is a long way and so much can change between now and then.

    Football - 10/3

Had a quick look around a couple of markets there and 2 bets stand out IMO

    1. Donegal to win the Ulster Championship - 7/1 with William Hill (4/1 next best price).

All-Ireland semi-finalists last year playing puke football, opposing teams found it very difficult to beat Donegal's brand of football. Personally I don't know why it is going to be so different this time around.

For some reason, Hills have Donegal as their 6th biggest price (from 9 counties) and the outsider of the likely 6 possible winners (Antrim are 7th fav @ 33/1). Even the fact that the price is almost double the next best price means that is probably a slight rick anyway

    2. London to win Division 4 of the League - 50/1 with Paddy Power

After the heroics of last year's Championship (drew with Mayo, beat Fermanagh, lost to Waterford) which can only have benefited the game over the water, I think this is too big. Worth a small each-way bet maybe (1/3 odds 1,2)

Interesting spot actually, did have a great championship last year, but one would wonder how set up they will be for the start of the league. Their form to date in the Connacht league has been shocking, with 4 loses - however these games were all played over here, and over 2 weekends with games on consecutive days

Looking at their fixtures, they have the 2 division heavyweights up in their first 2 games. Fermanagh (h) on 5th Feb and Limerick (a) 12th Feb. They are naturally more likely to be in with a better shout of winning home games and the good news is a lot of the stronger teams in the division have to travel to Ruislip - Fermanagh, Wicklow, Clare, Carlow must make the trip while The Exiles will need to cross the Irish Sea to play Limerick, Waterford Leitrim and Kilkenny

Big problem really is the opening 2 games, lose those and they will be pretty much out of the running for a top 2 spot as it will be hard to get the motivation after that. Fermanagh seem to be in good form in the McKenna cup under new manager Peter Canavan, then a tough trip to an alwas useful Limerick side

Have i missed something here? how in the name of God are Gort favourites for this clash:confused: they are odds on with most bookies @ 4/5 while Coolderry are 5/4

opps! just seen PP go against the grain and have C/derry the odds on favs @10/11 while Gort can be backed at 11/10.

I would have Coolderry as 2/5 mabe 1/3 shots. jeese lads this is one not to be missed,i can see C/derry scoring a few goals and winning handy enough, 7/8 points mabe more.

With 1st round of Sigerson coming up tue/wed week i hear word that the college teams today wont be at full strength in the Mc Grath/O byrne shield.

If either of DIT, UCC or CIT win today it means that they are playing in the respective finals next sunday only 48 hours before their biggest game of the year so for.

This has been reflected somewhat in the change in bookmakers prices over the last 2 days.

Tipperary were initially priced @ 13/8 on thursday but are now as short as 4/9 boyles, 4/7 powers. Ladbrokes have suspended betting on this game altogether. UCC beat Carlow IT in the Ryan Cup final (colleges league)wednesday night in a tight close encounter. I expect these lads to be given a rest today and a number of the fringe players to be given one last chance to stake a claim for a starting position.

Similar scenario can be said for both DIT and CIT. Laois have been punted from 8/11 into 1/2 and i have heard that DIT will be making a number of changes from the side that defeated Westmesth last sunday. All of this money is coming from the colleges camp as the county sides are unsure of what sort of team they will be fielding until an hour before throw in.

Laois, Cork Tipperary Treble at just over 2/1 with william hill looks a tasty treble to me. Just have to wait and see !!!!!

If anyones willing to take a chance. Have a look here: http://www.paddypower.com/bet/gaa-sports/gaa-football/all-ireland-intermediate-club-football?ev_oc_grp_ids=396850

Milltown and Davitts both qualified for the final today, confirmed here: http://www.sportsnewsireland.com/gaa-sports/gaa-live-scores/ .However PP haven't updated the site. Milltown are 7/4 while Davitts are 15/8.

    €50 on Milltown returns €137.50
    €50 on Davitts returns €143.75

Guaranteed €37.50 profit if Milltown win, €43.75 if Davitts win. I'm sure they'll cop on soon though

Anyone know when bookies are likely to have prices up for this weekends Walsh Cup/Waterford Crystal games? PP have prices up for the football, but no sign of hurling

  • Registered Users Posts: 971 ✭✭✭mjp

William Hill have Walsh cup priced up already.

    Kilkenny 1/4 NUIGalway 3/1
    Laois 3/1 Dublin 1/4
    Wexford 4/6 Offaly 11/8

Have to hand it to William Hill they have been the first to price up the O byrne/Mc Kenna cup games for last number of weeks when you consider that their resources are so small compared to those of Paddy Power. O ther firms just wait on powers to put up their prices and go a point shorter or longer on the odd team and go with those prices

    Reason I was asking

GF's brother was at Kilkenny county board meeting on Sunday, they are sending out a development u-21 team v NUIG in the Walsh cup this Sunday. NUIG also beat Wexford last weekend.

Hill's priced this match up at NUIG 3/1 earlier in the week, but thats long gone now. PP only priced it up today and have NUIG at 6/4. Will Hill still go 13/8, not a whole load of value but still worth a few quid imo.

KK did similar last year and won but only by a single point

Have Cork named a team or what kind of team are they expected to have?? Tipp have been going pretty well early doors, brought in a couple of new faces and Clonmel is never an easy spot for away teams, with the likes of Grogan and Austin in form the last few weeks and last years moinor Quinlivan showing great promise, Tipps forwards will trouble most teams.

I guess it all really boils down to Corks attitude on the day and how they approach it, but my gut tells me Tipp are primed for a bit of an ambush.

Cork have made six changes. IMO they've weakened their attack and defence while strengthening their midfield fwiw.

I'd lump on a Kerry/Derry -1 double to guarantee a return. After that....

Down -1 @ 5/4 with William Hill is a great bet, with Donegal missing their best three forwards.
