I've always loved strong tea!!! Weak tea is horrible, as is tea with loads of milk . . .strong hot tea with a small drop of milk - can't go wrong!!!

Yes. And sugar in tea is for cunts.

    Fact.

I talked to an Indian tea dealer who travelled all over the world selling large quantities of tea to various companies in various countries.

He said the Irish have the strongest blend of tea that he knows of. And it's true, do you notice that wherever else you go in the world that the tea is weak as sh*t!

And I like it stronger these days, now leave the teabag in the cup

I agree. Can't understand why anyone would want to ruin a perfectly good cup of tea with sugar . . .

I've always drank strong tea, loves it! I very much dislike wake(weak) tae(tea)! Prefer lyons tea to barrys tea.

Only realised how much stronger my tea is now than it was two years ago...... :pac:

You can always judge the strength of a person's character by the strength of their brew.

OMG totally just noticed that now, lol

I was in a hotel in Germany a couple of weeks ago, they seemed to have every type of tea under the sun, except for just plain old tea. Who in all honesty really likes any of those flavoured ones?

    Crazy people, that's who.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,190 ✭✭✭✭IvySlayer

    I love my tea :)

But not too strong..I had a plumber in, when I offered a cuppa, he said leave the teabag in the cup

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,351 ✭✭✭✭starlit

Hardly surprising if you leave the teabag in the cup for that long.

Yeah, flavoured teas are sh1te. Camomile?! Isn't that something you put on nettle stings?

You should go to Italy - for breakfast, they make a weak, milky, huge bowl of tea, then throw in loads of biscuits in it. Nasty.

That was some theory my granny had anyway. From my observation, there seems to be some truth in it :)

Sugar is at it's nicest when crystallised (like cocaine or crystal meth), it;s like ginger. I agree that there is nothing nicer than a pure cup of tea: but when was the last time you saw people wrapping tea in bales of cocaine to throw off the dogs?

    In All Fairness man. :)

    Is that not cereal?

Maybe their form of cereal I dunno. I went on an exchange years ago and was served biscuits (rich tea type) swimming in weak tea every morning.

They were probably all mushy. Less than appetising I'm sure.

Anyway, I think we can agree that the continent fails at tea.

Yes strong dark tea with no milk or sugar is where it's at. Preferably a good sized mug too. Nothing worse than those dainty little cups with handles so small only one finger can fit through.

Yeah if I were torn between tea and coffee, I'd pick coffee. I still really like tea though.

If they have all those weird teas, look for darjeeling - it's close to our tea. I can't stand those flavoured teas.

3 pages and no one has called tay by its proper name yet. Feck ye all and ye're 'tea'; tis tay in this country. 'Mug of scald' may suffice in certain circumstances.

Nah. Don't like the oil slick on top and I don't like my tea to taste like tree bark any more. Gone softer as I've got older. Just colour the water brown with a few good dips and leave the tannin and oil for the bin pixies.

    Lyons is just PG Tips.

Of course if you really like strong tea - I recommend Yorkshire Tea.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,228 ✭✭✭epgc3fyqirnbsx

Of course if you're having a fry, a proper fry that deprives you of movement for an hour afterwards with real soda bread and real butter etc, you must use a teapot and not with teabags but with loose tea leaves and leave it to brew on top of a range for 5 minutes before pouring.

    Thats tea

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 154 ✭✭RollYerOwn

Ah but then you have to put the milk in first if you're gonna make a pot - no point in not doing it properly now.

The perfect cup for me is strong, the tea bag well squeezed, just a dash of milk, there is an ideal colour of brown. For a truly enjoyable cuppa it would be in my favourite mug. I wouldnt go out of my way, lifting other mugs out of the way to get at it. But I certainly have a preferred mug, a second best etc. Is this mug hierarchy shared by other tea/coffee drinkers?

Yes, definitely (A barry's mug, supporting the cause). The last ones I'll use are those tiny cups in the back, or the ones with a grit-like texture but I'd never let it get to that stage of desperation.

I wouldn't be able to drink it without mentioning the movie though; even if there was no one there, I'd still have to make some kind of witty quip to myself that I was drinking Wes Anderson's thoughts or something.

    I can't risk that happening.

    I love strong Tea.

I put two of the Tetley's teabags into a cup and leave them to 'draw' for about 5-10 mins and then put a tiny bit of milk into the cup when I take the teabags out. No sugar though.

    *puts kettle on*

Strong tea is the best tea!
I remember my dad used to ask for a cup of tea, tell me to leave the teabag in,then leave.
He'd come back in half an hour and drink it.:pac:

Was over at the brother's last week and he made some tae.

Tasted like bloody hot milk with a splash of tea.

No wonder he's the black sheep :D I fcuked the lot into the sink and made a 'fresh one'.

    Strong tae all the waaaaaaay!

Strong tea and two spoons of sugar and it's yummy!

When I was in college, I found that the water tasted nasty in tea so I didn't drink it. Now that I am back home for the summer, it's been my main drink and I'm pretty sure it's replacing water as my main bodily fluid.

I totally agree! If I got handed a milky cup of tea I wouldn't be able to drink it, a nice strong cup of tea does me grand. I also HATE sugar in tea I find it horrible. All I need is a lil bit of milk and it's perfect :p
