    'at' might be more appropriate for 'side' in another context ('room' for example)

    Your question would have been easier to read if you wrote: Is it 'at' or 'on' in these two cases?

    'On the sunny side of the street'.
    'At the end of the rainbow'.

    'At the side of the road'.

    Notice the pattern. The prepositions 'at' and 'on' create different meanings:

    'I'm at your side' (I'm beside you)
    'I'm on your side' (I agree with you)
