    hi,
I am seventeen and i am a chocaholic and love patatoes. I am currently weighing 17st 5p :( but weighed 18st 10p before i lost a bit earlier this year! I started going to a dietition but i just dont see the point in the method as there is no restriction to what i can eat i must eat
3xfats 3xprotein 5xdairy 7xcarbs 5xfruit/veg a day! but can still eat chocolate with the reamining calories!
My worst thing is being so addicted to chocolate i dont mean one bar a day, 2 bars, some days it could even be 3/4!
I really want to lose weight i like fashion but know i cant wear it at the moment, i am only going in to sixthyear so i want to lose it before college.
Also when i am upset i either eat or just think whats the point in dieting (but i know i really want to at the same time)
If i got the right motivation i would have it done by now but the fact is i dont know what i need

Any advice would be greatly appreciated,
    thank you

Wow thats a scary looking diet in my opinion, I mean, eat like a pyramid, look like a pyramid! But im not a dietician but that wouldnt be how id go about losing weight personally

Have you read the stickies at the top of this forum, it goes through all the different things a body needs.

Bad news is you will have to go cold turkey on the choccie, I dont say that lightly, its VERY hard to do but you need to get your blood sugars level so you arent craving it so much. Is it possible that you eat something like this for a week or two

Breakfast- Porridge and a boiled egg

Snack- A mandarin (or apple) and a handful of nuts (like almonds or brazil)

Lunch: a chicken breast in a salad and a slice of a very good quality wholemeal bread

Snack: 2 oatcakes with some peanut butter

Dinner : fish/ chicken/ turkey stirfry or an omlette with lots of pepper and onions etc in it.

    Snack: a natural youghurt

Exercise: not sure how fit you are but aim for a 30 min walk anyway til you get some weight off and can go for more intense stuff

Actually just noticed you are 17, do you cook your own food?

    Thanks for responding,
I cook the dinner maybe 3 nights a week.

I thought that it was a bit much but my mam kept saying its about changing eating habits. . But i have to lose the weight first.

I might try that tomorrow, Is the stirfry without the rice?

    Thanks again.

Main thing is not to worry too much about it, perhaps have extra veg and none or nearly no potatoe with the main meal. Also cut down on the chocolate, try the 80% coco stuff, you'll only eat a tiny bit of it but it may satisfy the chocolate craving.

Don't be setting yourself a target of losing loads of weight for college, make changes to your diet and lifestyle now that you will stick to for years.

    3xfats 3xprotein 5xdairy 7xcarbs 5xfruit/veg a day! is a looney diet, way too many carbs I reckon.

    Thanks i thought that myself.
Is that the darker cocoa chocolate?

You could have a little bit of rice or noodles, but make it a wholgrain one, fills you up for longer. You have a long road ahead of you, dont do it quickly, it will come off by changing your habits as your mam says.

The dark chocolate is better than milk chocolate for sure but its easy to get used to the bitter taste and munch away on it as easy as milk chocolate.

I agree with roverjames about not trying to lose it all before college. Aim for 7lbs a month, thats even high enough a loss. Dont deprive yourself on calories just eat good healthy food and exercise everyday and you will be an awful lot healthier and slimmer by christmas even.

You can do it girl, there are people in the food diary section who have lost 60 and 70lbs by being sensible and are still motivated and on track. They do a set of mini goals for themselves so not to feel disheartened quickly

    So for example for you:

Goal 1: get into the 16st bracket
Goat 2: get to 16 and a half stone and so on.

Wow you sound like me when I was 17. With one big difference, you're making the effort to get on top of your weight. Well done for that!!!

I spent all my late teens and twenties making self deluding excuses as to why I was happy as I was (I wasn't). Being the fat chick is never fun. It ain't healthy and it does restrict you.

At 31 I am now making the changes I need to, but I so regret the amount of times I walked away from various attempts to loose weight when I was younger. Just think of the difference you'll see in a few weeks, then a few months...

Good luck and stick with it.

(90% cocoa really does hit those cravings, just takes some getting used to)

Smoothies with sweet fruit are great for chocolate cravings.

Actually there are forzen berries and frozen mango in Lidl in bags and once your palate gets used to it, they will taste so good to you.

You should set up a food diary for a while in the sub forum to here. I read all the girls stuff in there and its brilliant the support and advice and the bit of tough love they give when its needed!

You can do it, its actually so easy and becomes a second nature after a few weeks. I mean obviously you have already started by seeing the dietician so just keep motivated and write out your mini goals now.
