Cooking in bulk

Does anyone here cook in bulk?

Someone at work does it and I was thinking about starting it. Maybe spending an hour or two on a Sunday evening.

Cook a massive batch of something and freeze/refrigerate into 5 portions for the rest of the week.

The only problem I could see is the size of the pots needed, space in the fridge and the food going off by the end of the week.

As it is I spend a lot of time cooking during the week, so would like the extra time and savings.

Anybody have any good recipes or tips?

Do you really want to spend the entire week eating the same food?

The OP mentioned freezing, I used to do a batch or 2 and freeze them, after doing this a few times I had a collection of jars in the freezer so was not stuck with the same thing each day.

    The OP also mentioned:

    Hence my question.

I used to do that. Make chilli on a Saturday, eat one portion. Off to parents' for Sunday dinner. Mon/Tue/Wed/Thu - chilli. Friday - chinese takeaway (for a change :o).

    Repeat ad nauseum.

I make a massive batch of up to 16 portions - then eat one that day then freeze the rest. Good recipes for these are curry, bolognese, soup as all will defrost well. But make sure you don't f it up or you'll be stuck with a huge vat of something minging you'll be guilted into eating for months after... !!

Yeah, I'd get over it like.

At the moment I usually cook enough for dinner and the next days lunch.

Last night I did a bigger batch, should last for dinner tonight, and lunch and dinner tomorrow.

How do you cook your chilli? If you don't mind me asking.

I don't mind you asking at all, but you should try Sparks' chilli. Way better than anything that I've ever made. :)
