Optimum Nutrition Consistency

    Hi

Was wondering if anyone else has had the same experience.

I use ON Whey and have noticed that depending on where I buy it it is diff even the packaging is slightly diff.

I buy it from my Gym and have bought from 2 other well known supplement shops but found with both the strawberry and Choc Mint that the flavour was diff and the powder was diff colour/consistency.

I have got powder that was nearly like grains of sand and some that is like flour and mixes diff.

Is this to do with the way ON manufacture or is one or more of the shops replacing with inferior product and rippping me off.

    Thanks

Could the difference be that one of the products was aimed at the European market while the other was targeted at the American market?

I highly doubt the shops were trying to ripp you off, Im sure there's a tamper proof seal on the tub?

The American ON and European ON is very different if I can remember correctly.

Yeah maybe so not sure why any Irish shops would be selling a product aimed at the American Market are the products basically the same though or is one inferior

Branded whey has a high added value to it, similar to branded softdrinks, you can get 2L of branded drinks for €2 or and unbranded/own brand lemonade for a fraction of that -so obviously they are creaming in the money from people with loyalties. So the wholesale price could be very different depending on what people are willing to pay.

It is comparable to chippers & €2 shops sourcing cans of coke from the UK or elsewhere. The makers might frown upon it but in most cases there is nothing they can do.
replacing with inferior product and rippping me off.
Cheaper is not necessarily inferior, you could be paying over the odds anyway and it is ON who are setting the high price.

Yeah suppose your right for all we know have the products on the shelf are prob exact same with diff branding.

Hard to know what's the best value though.

Anyone had good results with cheaper products that they'd recommend

Whey protein tends to be manufactured in a percentage grade, optimum nutrition tend to work on a 80-90% quality grade from what i gather whilst alot of companies work off 60-70%. Some companies upgrade a 60% grade whey protein by adding amino acids to the profile. This is a cheap way to increase the quality of a product. Optimum nutrition is owned by glanbia now so I assume glanbia use their own protein so consistency should be reliable. For the american market they may source their protein in the states hence the inconsistency. Some companies source their protein from companies who process their protein bought from whoever is selling the protein raw material the cheapest at the time which can cause inconsistencies. So your protein could origanally come from france one part of the year and new zealand another part of the year.
